Job summary

Day & Zimmermann is seeking a full-time Staff Materials Manager in Parsons, Kansas to develop and manage schedule strategies for parts, commodities and services supporting production, with a focus on on-time delivery and cost efficiency.

You will lead cross-functional teams, model lead times, optimize order patterns, and provide buy recommendations based on item criticality and supplier performance, while leveraging SAP and MS Office to drive informed decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management or equivalent.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in shipping hazardous material, planning, and leading people.
  • ERP use, with SAP and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain a schedule strategy for parts, commodities and services to support production and on-time schedules.
  • Collaborate with program management and planning to model lead times and ordering patterns.
  • Lead weekly reviews with internal teams to monitor supplier order status and material flow.
  • Provide cost analyses and buy recommendations based on item criticality and lead times.

Job description

We're looking for a full-time, staff Materials Manager to join our Day & Zimmermann team located in Parsons, Kansas.

As the Manager, Materials here's the work you'll do:
  • Develop, Implement and maintain a comprehensive schedule strategy for parts, commodities and services as they relate to the production at the business unit and stakeholders. Participate in sourcing strategies in support of business objectives and production schedules, making recommendations as to timely ordering and delivery to maintain on-time schedules.
  • Work with program management, planning and supply chain, develop lead time models and recommend ordering patterns to ensure supplier lead times and internal lead times meet all production requirements. Helping identify single point of failure for critical components, recommending resolutions to site leadership.
  • Work with Supplier Quality, Incoming Inspection, Supply Chain and Program Management, develop a team to perform weekly reviews of quality issues to provide disposition and direction as it relates to on time program fulfillment and overall material flow.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for ongoing production supply, inventory levels and supplier order status in the areas assigned and responsible for developing cost analysis and buying recommendations based on item criticality, lead times, and cost of product as it relates to inventory carrying cost.
  • Work with associated departments to develop/establish inter-departmental Turn-Around-Times and ensure the timely completion of workflow from supporting departments to the next department in the value chain. To ensure timely and accurate movement of BOM;s WAP's, Drawing, approval Doc's and all other documents with established SLA's.

  • Ability to leverage metrics and other tools to drive efficiency.
  • Ability to maintain and provide current understanding of industry best practices and technology trends.
  • Ability to lead by example and motivate others to create a challenging, empowering, and collaborative working environment and contribute in a cross functional collaborative environment.
  • Financial skills including cost modeling, cost analysis, and make vs buy analysis. Working Knowledge and understanding of ERP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment; proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid written and oral communications skills.
And if you have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management or equivalent.
  • 5+ years Progressive experience in shipping hazardous material, planning, and leading people. ERP use.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $87,120 - $130,680 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
