Job description

Manager, Manufacturing Operations – Door Line

Location: Louisville, KY.

Responsibilities
Manufacturing Operations
  • Oversee daily production operations and drive continuous improvement.
  • Directly manage hourly production team members, including Team Leaders.
  • Own operational performance for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Align area goals with plant-wide objectives and lead daily start‑up of production area.
  • Ensure proper staffing, adjust for absenteeism, and review daily production plans with Team Leaders.
  • Maintain accurate production line boards for performance tracking and shift‑to‑shift communication.
  • Follow escalation protocols, act as first responder for production issues, and enforce Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Participate in daily production meetings, communicate key issues to leadership, and cascade necessary information.
  • Implement standardized work, coach Team Leaders to ensure process stability, and maintain 5S standards.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead teams in aggressive response to inefficiencies and drive root cause analysis.
  • Support the Business Leader in managing cross‑functional teams to reduce waste.
  • Participate in department reviews, prioritize open items, and ensure timely closure.
  • Lead and champion Kaizen Events; enforce effective implementation of countermeasures.
  • Use tools such as Yamazumi charts to plan and execute work area rebalancing.
Leadership & Administration
  • Partner with HR to ensure fair, consistent, and timely administration of all employee relations matters.
  • Manage staffing levels, job postings, timecards, and pay accuracy; oversee overtime needs and compliance.
  • Issue timely, well‑documented discipline and support HR in investigations when required.
  • Communicate company updates, process changes, and other written communications promptly and clearly.
Quality
  • Enforce all quality standards and processes; monitor daily quality performance and close unresolved issues.
  • Embed quality standards into Standardized Work and partner cross‑functionally with engineering and quality teams.
  • Track and reduce scrap through analysis and preventive action; drive improvement in First Pass Yield and Service Call Rate.
Safety
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with all PPE, safety rules, and procedures.
  • Lead and own accident investigations within 24 hours, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain the department safety action list and ensure timely closure of corrective actions from incidents and ergonomic assessments.
  • Drive accountability for safe behaviors through daily engagement and visible leadership presence on the floor.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including supplier management and project implementation.
  • Demonstrated technical acumen across supply chain functions such as manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, materials, quality, procurement, and fulfillment.
  • BS/BA degree preferred, ideally in engineering, supply chain management or business.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred, with strong knowledge of Lean, DMAIC, and related change mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated accomplishments showing results‑driven methodology, analytical methods, schedule achievement, and teamwork.
  • Prior Lean Manufacturing implementation experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage others effectively.
