GE Appliances, a Haier company, in Louisville, KY, seeks a Maintenance Manager for the 3rd shift to lead plant infrastructure maintenance and projects. You will supervise maintenance staff, ensure compliance with OSHA/EPA, and coordinate with operations to keep equipment running smoothly.

A technical degree and 5 years in production maintenance, plus 2+ years supervising in a union environment, are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in operation and maintenance of a production facility.
  • 2 years' minimum experience in the supervision of employees.
  • Ability to manage and influence a team of skilled maintenance employees.
  • Working knowledge in software packages such as MS Office Suite (Project, Word, Excel) and Email.
  • Familiar with OSHA and EPA Requirements related to maintenance.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Sound team approach to management.
  • Working knowledge of best practices involving mechanical and electrical design, PLC, maintenance and repair fundamentals of automated industrial production equipment.
  • 5 years' minimum experience in the supervision of employees in a union environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact within the plant to provide technical support and consultation on the plant infrastructure and facility support systems.
  • Provide technical expertise on plant layout, connections into/out of the plant, and in the troubleshooting of facility operational issues.
  • Own and facilitate effective utilization and operation of facility support systems and structure, including lighting, air compressors, electrical (incl. breaker maintenance), plumbing, vacuum pumps, sprinklers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, boilers, heaters, electric volts, process waste, drainage, dock doors, roof, fans, back-up generator.
  • Work on basic hydraulic troubleshooting and circuit diagnostics.
  • Supervise hourly bargaining unit maintenance staff by developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state and federal codes related to safe maintenance work practices.
  • Coordinates all maintenance activities with other departments to meet company goals.
  • Balances workloads and resources to achieve maximum results.
  • Provides technical leadership to the team on problem resolution.
  • Assists in troubleshooting and downtime response – including electrical wiring, machine controls hardware/software, PLC, and high/low voltage power distribution.
  • Responds to emergencies; coordinates activities with other responders; directs work of staff and resources to repair cost-effectively.
  • Ensures staff are trained in complex maintenance activities and follow SOPs.

The Maintenance Manager will provide technical support for the plant infrastructure (power, water, air, lighting, gas, etc). This position is Monday night through Saturday morning on 3rd shift. Manage projects related to electrical/mechanical support systems, building renovations and other infrastructure-related items to support manufacturing activities. Based on building needs, this role may be combined with manufacturing equipment support responsibilities. This role has a team of direct reports and coordinates all maintenance/janitorial activities on an assigned work shift.

How You'll Create Possibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact within the plant to provide technical support and consultation on the plant infrastructure and facility support systems.
  • Provide technical expertise on plant layout, connections into/out of the plant, and in the troubleshooting of facility operational issues. Provide this technical support and expertise to Plant Operations across multiple shifts.
  • Own and facilitate effective utilization and operation of facility support systems and structure, including lighting, air compressors, electrical (incl. breaker maintenance), plumbing, vacuum pumps, sprinklers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, boilers, heaters, electric volts, process waste, drainage, dock doors, roof, fans, back-up generator.
  • Working knowledge of how to troubleshoot and prove circuit work and able to perform basic hydraulic troubleshooting.
  • Conduct reasonable root cause hypothesis forequipmentfailure and then provide direction on corrective action.
  • Supervise hourly bargaining unit maintenance staff by: developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Evaluating staff and making hiring and termination recommendations and addressing subordinate complaints in partnership with HR.
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state and federal codes related to safe maintenance work practices as measured through internal department compliance audits and safety records.
  • Coordinates all maintenance activities in the assigned area with other departments to ensure company goals are being met as measured by key performance indicators.
  • Balances workloads and resources to achieve maximum results
  • Provides technical leadership to the team as needed on appropriate problem resolution.
  • Assists in troubleshooting and downtime response – including electrical wiring, machine controls hardware/software, PLC, and high/low voltage power distribution.

Working Conditions:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
