Job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

MANAGER, LOGISTICS (GLOBAL FULFILLMENT NETWORK)

As the Manager of Logistics, you will own the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of inbound logistics, fulfillment networks, and global transportation operations. You will drive carrier performance, develop and refine KPI methodologies, lead sourcing strategy and carrier partnerships, and expand logistics and transport networks that support freight, e-commerce, and industrial projects. This role has end-to-end accountability for network health, cost optimization, and operational excellence across domestic and international movements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, execute, and continuously evolve enterprise-wide logistics strategies, programs, and initiatives that optimize inbound logistics, fulfillment networks, and end-to-end transportation performance, directly enabling the achievement of aggressive volume, cost, and profitability targets while supporting rapid business growth.
  • Establish and manage robust carrier performance management frameworks, including the design and maintenance of comprehensive KPIs, scorecards, and real-time reporting tools; leverage data analytics to identify trends, drive measurable operational improvements, and ensure the overall health and resilience of the global logistics network.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and cultivate high-performing carrier partnerships through end-to-end management of RFPs, contract negotiations, rate and tariff optimization, and ongoing performance governance with third‑party logistics providers and transportation partners.
  • Drive the global expansion and optimization of logistics and transportation networks to support freight, e-commerce, and complex industrial project requirements, proactively identifying and onboarding new lanes, transportation modes, and service providers as business needs evolve.
  • Analyze, model, and redesign inbound and outbound transportation, distribution methods, and network architecture to deliver cost‑effective, scalable, and operationally efficient solutions that reduce lead times and improve service levels.
  • Define, implement, and evolve a comprehensive set of Key Logistics Performance Indicators (KPIs) and executive‑level dashboards that provide real‑time visibility into network health, carrier performance, fulfillment operations, and overall supply chain effectiveness.
  • Identify, prioritize, and lead cross‑functional cost‑reduction and process‑optimization initiatives across internal and external logistics spend, including packaging design, routing optimization, mode selection, and end‑to‑end process improvements.
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain, Production, and Engineering teams to align logistics strategies with broader business objectives and ensure seamless support for new product introductions, production ramps, and project launches.
  • Collaborate with Global Compliance, Customs, Tax, Finance, and Supply Chain stakeholders to ensure full adherence to all regulatory, customs, brokerage, duty, Incoterms, and trade compliance requirements while proactively identifying opportunities to reduce landed costs and streamline processes.
  • Develop, document, and institutionalize best practices for internal logistics operations, product flow optimization, packaging specifications, and material handling systems to drive consistency, safety, and efficiency across the organization.
  • Prepare, manage, and own the annual logistics budget for all inbound and outbound transportation spend, including forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex logistics issues, leading root‑cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and driving accountability with both carriers and internal stakeholders to minimize disruption and improve long‑term performance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience developing and improving KPI frameworks and carrier performance management programs.
  • 5+ years of experience leading sourcing strategy, carrier negotiations, and partnership management.
  • 5+ years of proven people management experience, including leading, developing, and supporting logistics teams.

  • Experience leveraging network size and shipment volume to optimize spend and improve competitive advantage.
  • Proven track record expanding logistics networks to support freight, e‑commerce, and industrial/manufacturing projects.
  • Strong background in 3PL/4PL management, freight forwarding and ocean/air/domestic, with proven ability to manage and leverage relationships to scale operations, accelerate solution delivery, and drive strong network performance.
  • Experience with ITAR, C‑TPAT, HTS/Schedule B, Incoterms, and international compliance.
  • Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems, logistics platforms, and data analytics tools.
