Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is seeking a Laboratory Services Manager to organize, coordinate and evaluate value-oriented laboratory services for quality patient care. The manager oversees staffing, training, budgeting, and regulatory compliance within Laboratory Services.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree and NYS license or equivalent, six years’ lab experience, and strong communication and leadership skills.

Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Responsibilities include organizing, coordinating and evaluating value-oriented laboratory services offered in an expeditious manner for quality patient care. The manager is accountable for personnel staffing, training coordination, accuracy and timeliness of procedure performance, budgeting, materials management, regulatory compliance and evaluation of results within Laboratory Services. Duties are to be done in such a manner as to apply and contribute to the St. Joseph’s Health mission and values. Must demonstrate the organization's commitment to sound ethical business practices as directed by the Corporate Compliance Office and approved by the Board of Trustees.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and certificate from a school of medical technology, histotechnology or cytotechnology, or any other culmination meeting supervisory qualifications of the NYS Department of Health. Prefer certification by a nationally recognized clinical laboratory certifying agency. Hold a valid New York State License from the Department of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT), Cytotechnologist © or Certified Histological Technician (CHT). Six Years’ laboratory experience required. Good communication, interpersonal and organized skills.

In Collaboration with both the Medical and Administrative Director regularly evaluates the testing needs of the organization. Evaluates methods/instruments from quality and cost perspectives. Methods chosen are implemented in a timely fashion and evaluated as dictated by good laboratory practice and regulatory bodies. Assures test results, quality control, and quality assurance data are reviewed timely to ensure regulatory compliance. Works collaboratively with other professionals throughout the organization. Effectively assesses and improves work unit’s performance. Demonstrates technical competence in bench work as needed, troubleshooting and problem solving. Effectively assists the Medical and Administrative Directors in monitoring and maintaining an efficient and effective laboratory which provides timely, accurate, and precise results to physicians for the optimal health care of all patients. Establishes and maintains data required to monitor indicators identified. Develops and maintains a system for proper reporting and investigation of incidents involving employees, patients and visitors. Trends and tracks data to identify improvement opportunities. Facilitates the development of improvement plan that addresses changes required and helps implement the changes. Coordinates and implements educational sessions as indicated. Prepares quarterly quality improvement reports summarizing monitoring activities. Reports and projects are completed in an organized and timely manner. Demonstrates ability to prioritize and take on additional projects and performs multiple tasks without sacrificing quality. Ensures inspection reports are satisfactory. Utilizes all information system functions as required or indicated. Hires, terminates, disciplines and evaluates staff. Ensures daily staffing meets department needs within the established budget. Holds staff and self-accountable for work processes and outcomes. Demonstrates ability to counsel, coach, guide and motivate staff to maintain productivity and employee engagement. Provides both positive and constructive performance feedback on an ongoing basis. Ensures competency of staff and addresses defined learning needs. Develops leadership skills in employees. Provides constructive, informative and timely performance reviews. Encourages and supports an environment of teamwork and positive peer relationships. Demonstrates a leadership style that fosters collaboration and empowers others to achieve success and quality outcomes. Serves as a role model of the change expected from others. Provides a link between management and staff. Exercises patience and control, especially in difficult or stressful situations; resolves conflicts appropriately. Involves employees at all levels in a supportive atmosphere, which is open to ideas. Assumes responsibility for the financial success of the section in meeting budget expectations. Meets required Continuing Education per laboratory policy. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, state & local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of conduct, as well as other policies, procedures & guidelines in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical & professional behavior and safe work practices.

Pay Range

$44.40-66.60 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
