The future of work is here, and we're not just a part of that movement-we're leading it. United by a desire to build a global community, our purpose is to give members the support to do their best work, and the space to take their ideas to new heights. Join us as we empower tomorrow's world at work.

About the Opportunity

WeWork seeks a Design Manager with at least eight years of experience for our Global Design Studio. The Design Manager will create vibrant co-working environments, collaborative spaces, and special projects as well as develop the standards and processes utilized by the Studio. Rapid project schedules require organization, tenacity, and ability to work with others. Periodic travel may be required. Portfolios must be submitted for consideration.

The Global Design Studio group is an international, interdisciplinary team that includes architects, interior designers, graphic artists, and workplace strategists. With this in mind, you must be able to work alongside our other global functional teams in these sectors, bringing a cross-functional mindset that allows us to grow better together. The successful candidate will encourage out-of-the-box creative thinking of the highest quality and will report into a Global Creative Director.

Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain an on-brand project aesthetic appropriate to the market, neighborhood, and program of all projects in the United States & Canada
  • Act as both a manager and a mentor to regional team members by providing guidance, feedback, and assistance
  • Organize, manage, and run 1:1 discussions with Interior Design staff to plan and track their growth
  • Collaborate with the Architecture Team to develop layouts, identify and arrange functional requirements, high-level programming, code analysis, and space planning. Produce all design and handoff packages using Revit, including programming, layout, AoR and GC handoff, and stakeholder-related deliverables.
  • Communicate regularly to management and the project team with project updates
  • Ensure project design intent follows WeWork brand standards and best practices
  • Develop a design concept/mood and implementation method, from the concept phase through project execution. Produce complete design packages, including interior design drawings, lighting strategy, millwork schematics, FF&E specifications, technical drawings, and coordinate AoR and GC hand-offs.
  • Stay current with, identify, and select design trends, materials, and FF&E which align with our brand standards. Work closely with the Procurement team to generate and manage FF&E project schedules, track FF&E supply chain (lead times, quantities, finishes), and maintain internal catalogues and FF&E design standards
  • Vendor liaising, materials and samples review, and material library management
  • Construction administration: Monitor design execution during Staging and Closeout Stages to ensure design intent is maintained through project installation, including leading internal and external team meetings as needed, providing clear, concise, and actionable agendas and communication.
About You

The Global Design Studio is looking for motivated individuals with a love of learning and collaboration who are eager to join a workplace built around the mindset of "we" over "me". We're committed to investing in team member growth and encourage applicants to consider the direct and/or indirect ways in which they meet the following criteria.

Candidates may be placed at the Manager or Senior Manager level based on the following.

  • 8+ years professional design experience on high quality commercial or hospitality interiors; mixed-use residential, cultural, and institutional experience will also be considered
