The incumbent also ensures continuity of computer services for computer users throughout the organization through planning, technical leadership, and project coordination.Core Responsibilities:* Designs improved work systems by revising work standards, policies, and procedures, employee work method and utilization, and staffing levels.* Plays an integral role in the hire, training, counseling, and development of staff.* Contributes to the formulation of department-wide management and technical policies.* Develops and maintains a professional development and training plan for staff.* Confers with and advises subordinates of technical problems and solutions, task prioritization, and support methodology.* Prepares activity and progress reports regarding group responsibilities.* Serves as a point of contact for the executive management team on department initiatives.* Ensures a consistently high level of customer service throughout the department by creating appropriate service standards, regular observation, and mentoring department personnel.* Develops, documents, and modifies guidelines and procedures to promote efficiency within the unit.* Works directly with faculty, students, and senior administrators to identify and address emerging technology needs.* Administers and coordinates all functions and services for assigned information technology projects.* Supervises the performance of unit supervisors and staff.* Administers and processes staff performance appraisals.* Makes recommendations to IT leadership, peers, and subordinates to improve the working environment.* Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.* Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.Department Specific Functions:**Manager, Education Technology** **and Academic Computing Support*** Leads the delivery of classroom and instructional technology software and services that support the education mission of the School of Medicine across MD and graduate programs.* Oversees day-to-day support for teaching and learning environments, including classrooms, conference and simulation-adjacent instructional spaces, and related audio-visual systems.* Directs the installation, configuration, maintenance, lifecycle planning, and operational readiness of classroom and AV technologies, including display systems, microphones, cameras, lecture capture, attendance monitoring and room control systems.* Partners with faculty, course directors, and academic leadership to support teaching activities, evaluate instructional technology needs, and improve the reliability and usability of supported technologies.* Coordinates technology and on-site support for high-stakes special events and high-impact instructional activities for the School of Medicine, including planning, staffing, testing, contingency preparation, issue escalation, and service recovery.* Assesses the effectiveness of learning spaces and instructional technologies and recommends improvements for medical and graduate education.**Project Management*** Creates and manages project plans for classroom technology refreshes, instructional technology enhancements, space activations, and service improvements from initiation through implementation.* Coordinates project activities and work requests with vendors, facilities partners, academic stakeholders, and central IT support groups as appropriate.* Develops implementation schedules that minimize disruption to academic operations and align with course calendars, exams, orientation periods, and other key instructional milestones.**IT Operations*** Ensures consistent operational support for MD and graduate education programs, including classroom operations, faculty teaching needs, and related academic activities.* Oversees support for student computing in a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environment, including connectivity, access, client configuration guidance, and coordination of issue resolution with other support teams when needed.* Manages technology equipment and software lifecycles and maintains accurate records of supported assets in accordance with university and departmental policies.**Training and Support*** Ensures the development and maintenance of service documentation, knowledge articles, quick-reference guides, and related resources for supported classrooms, technologies, systems, and services.* Establishes support resources and user enablement approaches that help faculty and staff use classroom and instructional technologies effectively.* Contributes to operational continuity and disaster recovery documentation for critical instructional technology services and teaching spaces.**Continuous Improvement*** Uses service trends, support data, utilization patterns, and academic calendars to inform staffing, support models, and technology planning.* Establishes and monitors metrics for service quality, reliability, responsiveness, and effective use of supported technology.* Identifies opportunities to improve user experience, standardize services, and reduce recurring issues affecting faculty and learners.***This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.*****MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*** Bachelor’s degree in information technology, educational technology, instructional technology, higher education administration, or a related field preferred.* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required* Relevant industry certifications in audio-visual technology, IT service management, project management, or endpoint support are preferred.* **Operational Management:** Optimizes day-to-day operations and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.* **Organizational Development:** Ability to implement strategies to improve organizational effectiveness, engagement, and manage change.* **Financial Oversight:** Knowledge of financial operations and management.* **Team Leadership:** Ability to create and maintain a cohesive and productive team environment, build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with others.* **Technical Proficiency:** Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.* **Communication:** Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and
