Job summary

Kalmar Solutions LLC is seeking an Industrial Engineering Manager for the Ottawa, Kansas manual assembly plant. You will lead a team of industrial engineers, optimize production processes, and champion lean initiatives to improve throughput and quality across operations.

You will collaborate with production, design, and supply chain functions, manage facility layouts and capital equipment, and drive safety and operational excellence. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven track record of managing people, specifically with demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Industrial Engineers.
  • Manufacturing background with manual assembly environment and production systems expertise.
  • Lean manufacturing leadership and continuous improvement project experience in an industrial setting.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols.

Join us and take your career to the next level Kalmar Solutions LLC is looking for a driven and experienced Industrial Engineering Manager for the Terminal Tractor manual assembly plant in Ottawa, KS. This person will be responsible for optimization of our production processes and championing continuous improvement initiatives across our operations. This position is vital for streamlining our manufacturing systems and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
Compensation Data
  • Base Salary: $160k - $210k per year
  • Eligible for Annual Bonus
  • Eligible for Annual Salary Review & Merit Increase
  • Willing to provide Relocation Assistance
What Are Your Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Industrial Engineers, guiding their daily activities and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture to support manufacturing goals.
  • Process Optimization: Evaluate and refine existing manufacturing workflows to eliminate waste, reduce lead times, and improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Lean Implementation: Lead and execute Lean manufacturing methodologies (such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping) across the production floor. Quality Enhancement: Develop and implement robust quality control procedures to ensure product consistency and meet industry-leading standards.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with production, design, and supply chain teams to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and drive seamless product life cycles.
  • Project Management: Oversee facility layout updates and capital equipment installations to maximize throughput, safety, and productivity.

What You Bring To The Role
  • Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of managing people, specifically with demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Industrial Engineers.
  • Manufacturing Background: Strong practical experience working within a manual assembly environment, with capabilities in production systems, equipment troubleshooting, and process design.
  • Lean Expertise: Proven hands‑on experience in leading Lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects in an industrial setting.
  • Safety Commitment: Strong awareness and adherence to safety protocols to ensure a secure work environment for yourself and your colleagues.
