Description & Requirements

The State and Local Tax team is dedicated to helping businesses navigate the complex and ever-changing world of state and local taxation. With deep technical expertise and a client-focused approach, the team provides strategic insights and hands-on support across key SALT areas-including income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, property tax, unclaimed property, and credits and incentives. Their goal is to help clients minimize risk, enhance compliance, and identify meaningful opportunities for tax savings.

What You Will Do:

• Evaluate and recommend optimal filing methodologies across state jurisdictions
• Review and analyze apportionment data to ensure accurate tax positioning
• Lead client engagements, coordinate team deliverables, and ensure timely execution
• Research evolving state tax issues and draft technical memorandums for internal and client use
• Provide audit defense and support for state income/franchise tax matters
• Guide clients through income tax compliance processes, from data gathering to filing
• Provide leadership experience in mentoring teams and developing junior staff

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in accounting or a related field
• 4.5+ years of relevant tax experience
• 3+ years of income tax experience
• Proficiency with OneSource income tax preparation software and OneSource tax provision software
• Current and valid CPA, EA, or CMI - State Income Tax (IPT) certification, or hold a JD or LLM.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field
• Familiarity with ASC 740 and state income tax provision review
• Strong understanding of recent state tax legislative developments and their business impacts
