Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers, internal departments, and team to resolve problems throughout the day and on-call.
  • Forecast freight volumes and capacity needs; adjust to meet regulatory requirements and optimize coverage.
  • Lead hiring, training, and development; optimize performance and retain staff through evaluations and development plans.
  • Guide teams to solve service issues, plan safe on-time service, and coordinate warehouse resources when needed.
  • Assist warehouse staff with loading/unloading, material handling, and inventory processes.
  • Monitor safety standards and warehousing requirements; enforce policies and positive safety culture.
  • Oversee operations and act as first point of contact for customers to ensure service, efficiency and profitability.
  • Contribute to annual budget planning; review performance and adjust expenses with Controller input.
  • Manage payroll and invoicing; ensure accurate and timely customer billing; drive profitability.
  • Understand and implement KPIs; participate in mid-year reviews and annual assessments.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the position is responsible for the oversight of a single and/or multiple sites/ fleets, warehouse personnel, or non-J.B. Hunt assets, with one or more managers, including operational personnel (drivers, contractors, office, and/or warehouse employees). This position optimizes the company's assets by monitoring revenue and costs through effective P&L analysis and builds and maintains customer satisfaction through problem-solving, communication, and relationship building. The position may be located on-site at the customer's facility. Incumbents must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility in scheduling to ensure operational success. This includes but is not limited to, day shifts, night shifts, and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate with customers, internal departments, and team to identify and resolve problems or issues with personnel, customer, account, etc. throughout the day and, where required, when on call
  • Create and execute plan for forecasted freight volumes/customer volume needs, power/equipment needs, and adjust capacity needs as a result to ensure fleet/carrier and equipment coverage is seamless and meets Federal and state requirements; Potential to hold responsibility for the management of inventory, warehouse, and/or the overall upkeep and security of the facility and property
  • Facilitate and determine selection, hiring, employee trainings and development including monitoring ongoing performance progress to promote, engage, and retain employees by optimizing job performance through evaluations, individual development plans, and employee recognition programs
  • Lead personnel to resolve service issues, routing and/or planning for safe on time service, receipt, inventory, material handling and safety of goods coming through the warehouse, etc. as they occur throughout the day and, where necessary, when on call; May coordinate warehouse resources in order to maintain working processes
  • May assist warehouse workers with duties including but not limited to operating loading/unloading vehicles, preparing goods and materials, and processing receipts, inventory, etc.
  • Monitor and communicate operational safety standards, warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements; takes proactive steps to create a positive safety culture at their accounts by enforcing company policies, ensuring compliance, and company safety requirements are being met
  • Oversee assigned operations and serves as the first point of contact with their assigned customers in order to provide exceptional service and trouble free account safety, efficiency and profitable operation
  • Provide input in the creation of an annual budget, audit current year performance of actual versus budgeted expenses and provide feedback to the Controller regarding required changes to the budget as a result of operational changes
  • Responsible for complete P&L performance, including cost control decisions, expense management, and maximizing profitability, as well as identifying and maintaining key performance indicators. Includes design versus actual data analysis for each customer through mid-year business reviews, annual account assessments, and preparing and presenting final presentation, etc.
  • Responsible for the management of employee payroll, and/or creation of invoices and ensuring customer billing is accurate and timely
Qualifications

Minimum Qualification: High School Diploma with 3-5 years of Transportation/Logistics experience and/or 3-5 years of supervisory experience, &/or military equivalent; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed. Must be willing to travel to account, customer, & company event locations when applicable.

Preferred Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Finance, or related fields with 1 year of relevant professional experience or 2-4 years of experience with J.B. Hunt or in the Transportation/Logistics industry with 3-5 years of supervisory experience AND/OR Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences: Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy Anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts at the individual, group, or situation level Ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment Ability to adapt to changing environments Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers Ability to meet or exceed team/driver needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner Effective communication skills Ability to develop and track challenging goals that support business strategies Knowledge of business metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Ability to form and manage effective teams Participate in the process of recruitment of permanent and contract personnel, achieving optimal match between candidate and position Understanding the resources required to achieve business objectives and the ability to plan, mobilize, and distribute resources to fulfill business objectives and plans.

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
