EMPLOYERS, a 100% remote workplace and America's small business insurance specialist, seeks a Manager, Human Resources to lead HR Business Partners and the HR Operations Specialist. You will own employee relations, performance management, and policy execution while coaching a high-performing team across the organization.

Based in the United States, you will drive engagement, implement HR programs, and champion AI-enabled HR solutions to improve efficiency and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years HR experience including employee relations and performance management.
  • 5+ years leading HR teams.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Experience with investigations, leave, ADA accommodation, and workers' compensation oversight.
  • Familiar with AI tools in day-to-day HR work.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Establishes and maintains a deep understanding of the business to build effective, productive relationships with stakeholders at every level of the organization.
  • Drives employee engagement strategies that foster an environment where all employees are respected and valued.
  • Facilitates the consistent application, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR policies, processes, and programs, including performance management, merit and promotion planning, career development, and headcount planning.
  • Serves as the escalation point for employee relations matters raised by HR Business Partners, directly owning complex or sensitive issues and partnering with HR leadership on final resolution.
  • Conducts or oversees formal employee relations investigations on escalated or complex matters, ensuring thorough documentation and appropriate resolution.
  • Provides advice and counsel to leaders and employees on employee relations and performance management matters.
  • Partners with Learning & Development to identify and address organizational training needs, informed by trends surfaced through employee relations and performance management.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops a team of HR Business Partners and the HR Operations Specialist, fostering a high-performing, collaborative HR function.
  • Champions the responsible use of AI and emerging HR technology within the team, using it to improve efficiency, decision-making, and service delivery.
  • Supports broader HR strategies and initiatives that align with business priorities and organizational goals.
  • Assumes direct ownership of a business unit or client group as business needs require.
  • Leads the organization through the annual performance review and compensation planning cycle, partnering with Compensation and HR Leadership.
  • Provides oversight of the organization's Leave of Absence, FMLA, ADA accommodation, and Workers' Compensation programs, administered day-to-day by the HR Operations Specialist.
  • Oversees the development, maintenance, and consistent application of HR policies, partnering with the HR Operations Specialist and Legal.
  • Tracks and gathers employee relations and HR data across the team to surface trends and inform recommendations, feeding into broader HR reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations relevant to employee relations, performance management, leave, and accommodation, including ADA, FMLA, and EEO requirements.
  • Demonstrates leadership by creating an environment that fosters teamwork, values diversity, and supports and respects all team and company staff members, internal and external customers, and vendors; selects, manages, develops, coaches, and motivates staff members.
  • Develops and monitors spending against the departmental budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements - Background And Experience/Expertise
  • Minimum of 10 years' relevant human resources experience, including employee relations and performance management.
  • Must have 5 years' experience managing and leading human resources teams.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to research, write and present materials in a manner that is understandable to the audience in multimedia forms.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated skill working in a hectic environment with numerous interruptions while maintaining a professional atmosphere and exercising tact and good judgment.
  • Working knowledge of employee relations investigations, leave of absence, ADA accommodation, and workers' compensation program oversight.
  • Comfortable using AI tools in day-to-day HR work, with sound judgment about when human review and discretion are required.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize a must.
  • Demonstrated experience working with MS Office software required.
Certification
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP Preferred
Education
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment
  • Remote: This role is 100% remote, open to candidates currently located in the United States who are able to work without sponsorship.
  • Requires a private, quiet workspace suitable for focused work and video collaboration.
  • Hours: Schedules are set to accommodate the needs of the role and organization, and may be adjusted as needed.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to off-site locations for meetings may be required.
Salary Range
