Job description

Position Overview

Manatt Health is seeking a Manager to join its growing Healthcare Analytics team. This role is ideal for a professional with hands‑on experience conducting quantitative analyses using Medicaid, Medicare, and other real‑world healthcare data who is equally interested in applying quantitative insights to broader healthcare policy, strategy, and consulting engagements.

The successful candidate will bring expertise in Medicaid and Medicare claims data analysis, strong quantitative modeling capabilities, and a deep understanding of U.S. healthcare policy, particularly Medicaid program design and financing. In addition to analytics, the Manager will provide project management, research, deck development, and solutioning support on non‑analytic, strategic consulting engagements across the practice—including Medicaid and Medicare policy, health system strategy, life sciences market access, health data strategy and enterprise redesign, payment and delivery system transformation, and coverage and reimbursement strategies.

This individual will contribute to client‑facing analyses, financial forecasting models, and emerging AI‑enabled analytics solutions while serving as a project manager, thought partner, and mentor within a nationally recognized healthcare consulting practice.

Key Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Modeling
  • Conduct quantitative analyses using Medicaid, Medicare, commercial claims, hospital cost report, and other public or proprietary datasets to address client policy, business, and research questions.
  • Identify appropriate data sources and methodologies based on project objectives, scope, timing, and budget.
  • Build and support the management of complex analytical and financial models, integrating data from multiple sources, to inform policy evaluation, forecasting, program design, and business decision‑making.
  • Develop assumption‑driven forecasting models, including revenue, expense, and policy scenario analyses, and support Medicare and Inflation Reduction Act‑related analyses.
  • Define analytical approaches, interpret findings, and translate complex results into actionable client insights.
  • Write, review, and maintain high‑quality Python, SAS, and/or SQL code to analyze large‑scale healthcare datasets, leveraging AI‑assisted tools where appropriate.
  • Conduct statistical analyses, including regression modeling and other quantitative methods.
  • Support data governance, quality assurance, and programming best practices, including version control and development environment management.
  • Manage data acquisition processes and data use agreements as needed.
Client Delivery & Consulting
  • Support consulting engagements across Medicaid and Medicare policy, health systems strategy, payment and delivery reform, health data modernization, and life sciences market access.
  • Communicate complex analytical methods and findings effectively to a variety of audiences through written reports, presentations, and data visualizations.
  • Develop and deliver organized, substantive, and polished executive‑level presentations that synthesize complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Manage project workstreams from planning through execution, including work plans, milestones, deliverables, client and internal communications, and issue resolution.
  • Apply critical thinking and structured problem‑solving to complex healthcare policy and business challenges across a variety of projects and topic areas.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Mentor analysts and consultants, fostering excellence in client service, professional development, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Supervise and support teams in data‑driven problem‑solving and strategy development while ensuring timely, high‑quality deliverables.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of Manatt Health’s analytics capabilities, including adoption of emerging AI‑enabled solutions.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in public policy, health economics, applied economics, public health, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of substantive healthcare experience in consulting, policy, research, payer, provider, or government experience.
  • Direct experience analyzing Medicaid and/or Medicare claims data required; experience with the CMS Virtual Research Data Center (VRDC) preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience developing analytical code in Python and/or SAS/SQL to analyze large healthcare datasets; Databricks experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare policy, with Medicaid policy and financing expertise highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous quantitative analyses and effectively communicate insights through written and visual materials.
  • Experience building financial, forecasting, or policy models that support organizational or client decision‑making.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong client relationship skills and a proven ability to develop practical, innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional problem solving, organizational, written and verbal communications, and presentation skills, including confidence presenting to executive audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with AI coding tools such as Codex or Claude Code is a plus.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and entrepreneurial mindset with strong problem‑solving and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare strategy, market dynamics, health equity, and emerging industry trends.
Benefits & Compensation

This role offers an opportunity to shape high‑impact healthcare policy and strategy decisions, lead sophisticated analytics engagements, and help drive the continued evolution of Manatt Health’s growing data and AI‑enabled consulting capabilities.
