Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a team that fabricates ground system piping and GSE hardware, mainly on the Launch Pad with support for test stands across sites.

You will guide technical teams in vacuum jacketed line fabrication, welding, coatings, cleaning, inspection, and testing while engaging new stakeholders, planning resources, and driving project execution to meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • B.S degree in Engineering or 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with contract documents including plans, specs and code.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb stairs; perform in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to manage technically complex projects with independent judgment.
  • Willingness to adapt to shifting requirements and constraints.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to obtain government installation badges.

Responsibilities

  • Establish goals for the Manufacturing Engineering team supporting fabrication.
  • Oversee fabrication operations for efficiency, compliance, and cost control.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement from project intake to closeout.
  • Develop long-term capabilities of fabrication facilities and team leadership.
  • Manage work orders in ERP/MRP: create, release, track, close; ensure accurate materials data.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, you will act as the Manager leading a team supporting an in-house fabrication group that constructs ground system piping and GSE hardware located primarily on the Launch Pad but is also in support of test stands at Blue Origin’s sites.

This role requires an expertise in vacuum jacketed line fabrication, including weld procedure qualifications, personnel certifications, welding, cutting, coatings, cleaning, inspection, and testing. As the Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, planners. This role will require engaging new project stakeholders, planning resources to meet project needs and supervising the team through project execution.

As a manager you will perform strategic cross organizational planning, estimating (cost/schedule), team goal setting, progress reporting and while managing across project priorities and performing deconfliction.

  • Establish goals for the MFG. Engineering team supporting fabrication.

  • Oversee operations of fabrication team ensuring processes are optimized for effectiveness, compliance, and cost-efficiency.

  • Stakeholder interface during new project intake, project execution, and closeout

  • Establishing and growing long term capabilities of the fabrication team and facilities

  • Administer protocols for monitoring production performance

  • Developing the team to include the development of each leadership position, technical training of the workforce, and development of new leadership and technical talent

  • Manage the complete work order lifecycle within ERP/MRP systems, including work order creation, release, tracking, and closure. Ensure accurate and timely material transactions, including material issues, transfers, receipts, returns, and inventory adjustments. Maintain accurate inventory records and transaction history to support production schedules, material availability, traceability, and overall operational efficiency.

Qualification:

  • B.S degree in Engineering or alternatively 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience with contract documents including plans, specifications and code

  • Candidate must be able to lift/carry up to fifty pounds. Must be able to physically climb multiple flights stairs, withstand prolonged standing, and work in adverse weather conditions

  • Ability to perform and manage technically complex projects using independent judgment and personal initiative

  • Recognize and act on opportunities; maintain flexibility to adjust as requirements shift or constraints change

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), Intermediate

  • Candidate must be able to successfully apply for badging at a government installation

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Experience with project planning and controls

  • Experience in the fabrication of piping systems per ASME/B31.3

  • Experience working with DOD, USAF, and/or NASA

  • Experience in the aerospace (orbital launch vehicle) sector

  • Experience working to AFSPCMAN 91-710 range requirements

  • Experience with Launch GSE Operations
