Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks an experienced grants administrator to guide researchers through pre- and post-award processes, ensuring compliant submission and tracking of sponsored programs. You will collaborate across departments and sponsors, maintaining documentation and ensuring timely fund activation and reporting.

The role demands strong budgeting, NIH grants familiarity, and excellent communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced academic environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA in related areas preferred.
  • 7+ years experience in grants management or closely relevant, preferably in health care or higher education, with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Administrative experience in an academic or research-oriented environment and ability to contribute in a cutting edge research environment.
  • Strong background in grant administration/budgeting principles and practices, excellent written and oral communication skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Previous experience with NIH grants in an academic research environment.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel and Word skills; Prior experience with InfoEd is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with investigators on all aspects of the grant application process, including assisting with pre-award budget development, gathering supplemental materials, Other Support documentation, prior approval requests, post-award fund activation and progress reporting, as well as grant closeout procedures.
  • Reviews grant and contract proposal applications prior to submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Acts as a liaison with departmental administrators, faculty and extramural funding agencies to endorse edits to proposals prior to institutional endorsement.
  • Ensures that grants and contracts applications are submitted and routed to the appropriate committee (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Institutional Review Board, Bio-Safety Officer and Financial Conflict of Interest in Research Committee).
  • Reviews and provides supplemental information to extramural sponsors on grant applications.
  • May create and maintain computer documentation and appropriate files for proposal submissions/documentation, awards, and internal approvals.
  • Routine entry and maintenance of data and filing for all grants & contracts in internal tracking systems and share drive.
  • May create and distribute funding opportunities packets, calendars and alerts.
  • Performs other related duties.

Description

This individual provides technical assistance and guidance in the preparation, submission, processing, and management of research grants and contract proposals, awards, and agreements for researchers within the institution/ department. Also, assures that the administration of sponsored programs related to research is in compliance with institutional, federal, state and private agency rules and regulations.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $86772 - $143312.09 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
