Job description

LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy) is forging an American energy future with integrity, innovation, and positive impact. Born in Texas in 2003, we own and operate over 30 utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in local communities across the United States, totaling 4 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity. LRE continues to help meet increased U.S. energy demand through our robust pipeline of new projects every year. Domestic jobs and manufacturing are fundamental to our full-lifecycle approach to projects, along with a long-term ownership model and a company culture dedicated to our community partners and protecting the natural environment.

Job Summary

The Manager, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting (M3) will lead LRE’s external financial reporting process, supporting internal reporting needs, managing audit deliverables, and serving as a subject matter expert on complex U.S. GAAP matters. This role researches, evaluates, concludes on, and documents technical accounting positions; partners with business stakeholders to apply those conclusions operationally; and helps maintain a scalable, controlled, and audit-ready reporting environment. The role is well suited for a CPA with strong technical accounting depth, excellent written communication skills, and experience operating in a dynamic financial reporting environment with complex legal entity and consolidation considerations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead LRE’s quarterly and annual external reporting process, including the preparation and review of financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and supporting schedules, while ensuring consistency with U.S. GAAP, lender, investor, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Operations, and other functions to ensure reporting packages are complete, accurate, supported, and aligned with underlying business activity.
  • Manage key audit deliverables, coordinate with external auditors, resolve audit questions, and ensure supporting documentation is prepared, reviewed, and retained in a manner that supports efficient audit execution.
  • Lead the evaluation of complex accounting matters, including researching applicable guidance, preparing technical accounting memoranda, concluding on appropriate treatment, supporting implementation of conclusions, and maintaining documentation that is clear, supportable, and audit ready.
  • Monitor and implement new accounting standards (e.g., FASB accounting standards updates) and assess their impact.
  • Identify, recommend, and help implement process improvements that strengthen the accounting team’s reporting timelines, documentation standards, review controls, quality of work, and scalability.
  • Support the monthly and quarterly close process by reviewing consolidation entries, intercompany eliminations, equity accounting, and reporting schedules for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with the Company’s reporting requirements.
  • Support special projects, management reporting requests, and ad hoc analyses related to operating results, entity activity, and accounting process improvements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or financial reporting experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex reporting, audit, or technical accounting matters.
  • Prior people management and project leadership experience with demonstrated ability to coach staff, manage priorities, and drive accountability.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements, with demonstrated experience researching, documenting, and communicating technical accounting conclusions; experience in a public company, SEC reporting, or complex private-company reporting environment.
  • Technical and analytical accounting background with experience in consolidations, complex corporate and legal entity structures, equity and investment accounting, debt and financing arrangements, business combinations or asset acquisitions, leases, impairment, and other complex accounting areas.
  • Proven ability to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines while preparing complete analyses, reconciliations, technical documentation, and special projects with professional follow-through.
  • Self-motivated professional with a continuous improvement mindset, attention to detail, strong ownership of assigned areas, and the ability to independently drive projects from issue identification through resolution.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex accounting matters clearly to accounting and non-accounting stakeholders, resolve issues collaboratively, and support cross-functional business partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in accounting.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience in a multi-entity, project-based, asset-intensive, renewable energy, infrastructure, or complex private-company reporting environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Office 365, consolidation tools, and financial reporting tools such as Workiva.
