Your role at Sephora...
The Manager, DevOps & Platform leads and drives the strategy, delivery, and operations of developer and platform services, including CI/CD toolchains, Infrastructure-as-Code, container orchestration, and hybrid/public cloud platforms.
This role:
- Runs the platform roadmap, architecture, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Leads globally distributed DevOps teams (onshore/nearshore/offshore).
- Ensures that DevOps platforms enable fast, secure, and reliable delivery for technology.
Should be a player–coach, able to dive in hands‑on for architecture and solution reviews, automation design, and incident triage, while also driving multi‑quarter roadmaps, stakeholder alignment, and measurable improvements in reliability (SLO/SLI), resiliency, automation, cost optimization, and user experience. This role requires balancing technical depth with strategic leadership, ensuring that platform engineering aligns with enterprise technology strategy and supports continuous improvement in reliability and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Build and optimization of cloud‑native platforms and DevOps toolchains (CI/CD, IaC, containers); provide hands‑on technical guidance, reviews, and design leadership.
- Define platform architecture, standards, security baselines, and integration patterns; own the multi‑year roadmap for DevOps & Platform services.
- Lead and develop globally distributed SRE/DevOps teams; drive performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
- Engage in L3 production triage and incident resolution; ensure SLA adherence and drive low MTTD/MTTR with strong PIRs.
- Partner with engineering to align priorities; communicate status, risks, and trade‑offs across Technology and Business.
- Manage vendors, licenses, and platform spend; rationalize tools and optimize total cost of ownership.
- Drive observability (SLO/SLI), automation and AI adoption to reduce toil while improving reliability, performance, and user experience.
We're excited about you if you have:
- 8+ years hands‑on leadership in SRE/DevOps and platform engineering.
- 6+ years proven leadership of cross‑functional technical teams in enterprise‑scale hybrid/public cloud (AWS) environments; observability implementation (Splunk/New Relic/Dynatrace).
- Experience in L3 production triage and incident/problem support in 24×7 environments.
- Strong background in observability tooling, telemetry pipelines, and infrastructure monitoring.
- Hands‑on experience with DevOps principles, CI/CD automation, and migrations.
- Experience managing budgets, vendors, and technical strategy.
- Solid exposure to at least one major cloud environments (Azure/ GCP/ OCI/ AWS); Azure Preferred.
- Cloud & Platform Architecture: Understanding of secure, scalable, and resilient platforms across hybrid/public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP); anticipates future use cases to minimize change cost.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation: Knowledge of either Terraform/CloudFormation Implementations for automating provisioning; and driving configuration management and orchestration at scale.
- CI/CD Pipeline Engineering: Experience in managing the build and optimization of continuous integration and delivery pipelines; enforcing release automation, rollback strategies, and deployment best practices.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Understanding of Kubernetes/EKS/ECS and container‑based workloads; ensures high availability and performance in distributed systems.
- Observability & Reliability Engineering: Partner with Digital & Retail SRE Teams & the Tools team to define and tracks SLO/SLI as well as to implement required telemetry to reduce MTTD/MTTR.
- Incident & Problem Management: Leads L3/on‑call response and post‑incident reviews; converts root causes into durable fixes; embeds learning into platform improvements.
- Performance Optimization & Cost Management: Continuous focus on optimizing infrastructure spend; while applying benchmarking and data‑driven strategies for efficiency.
- Security & Compliance in DevOps: Ability to enforces least privilege, secret hygiene, threat modeling, and platform hardening; that integrates security into CI/CD and cloud operations.
- Agentic AI & Intelligent Automation: Should be able to leverage AI/ML‑driven approaches for predictive monitoring, anomaly detection, and agentic / automated remediation as appropriate to reduce operational toil.
- Technical Leadership & Team Development: Ability to set engineering standards and best practices; mentors globally distributed DevOps/SRE teams; fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
- Cross‑functional Collaboration & Communication: Able to effectively partner with engineering stakeholders; communicates complex technical concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences.
What You’ll Get:
The annual base salary range for this position is $173,610.00 - $192,900.00. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non‑discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses. This job will be posted for a minimum of five days.
