Job summary

RayzeBio in Indianapolis is seeking an EHS Manager reporting to the Director of Health Physics to lead environmental, health, and safety programs for the site. You will ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, IDEM and other authorities; drive a proactive safety culture; manage risk reduction and training; and provide strategic EHS leadership to operations, quality, and engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, pharma, biotech, radiopharma, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Experience leading EHS programs, audits, incident investigations, regulatory reporting, training, and corrective action.
  • Knowledge of OSHA G1/G2, EPA/IDEM environmental requirements, hazardous waste management, industrial hygiene, emergency preparedness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and continuous improvement of site EHS policies, programs, and management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, IDEM, IDHS, DOT, NRC/AS, and other EHS requirements.
  • Serve as site EHS SME and business partner to Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Facilities, and Supply Chain.
  • Lead risk assessments, industrial hygiene evaluations, safety inspections, and program audits.
  • Own investigations of incidents, near-misses, spills, and environmental events; drive root cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs, onboarding, and emergency response training.
  • Manage environmental compliance programs (hazardous waste, air emissions, wastewater, chemical management).
  • Prepare and submit reports to OSHA, EPA, IDEM, IDHS; support regulatory readiness.
  • Lead emergency preparedness activities and business continuity coordination.
  • Establish and track EHS metrics and communicate results to leadership.
  • Promote safety culture through committees, gemba walks, coaching, and campaigns.

Summary

The EHS Manager, reporting to the Director of Health Physics, lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs for the Indianapolis manufacturing site. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations; driving a proactive safety culture; managing risk reduction initiatives; and providing strategic and technical EHS leadership to operations, quality, engineering, facilities, supply chain, and supporting functions. The EHS Manager will also oversee site EHS performance, regulatory readiness, incident prevention, training, emergency preparedness, and environmental compliance programs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, administration, implementation, and continuous improvement of site EHS policies, procedures, programs, and management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, IDEM, IDHS, DOT, NRC/Agreement State, and other federal, state, and local EHS requirements.
  • Serve as the site EHS subject matter expert and business partner to Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Facilities, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead risk assessments, job hazard analyses, industrial hygiene evaluations, ergonomic assessments, safety inspections, and program audits to identify hazards and implement effective controls.
  • Own incident, near‑miss, injury, spill, and environmental event investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, effectiveness checks, and communication of lessons learned.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain EHS training programs, including onboarding, annual refresher training, role‑specific training, emergency response, hazardous materials handling, PPE, respiratory protection, and contractor safety.
  • Manage environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste, air emissions, wastewater/stormwater, chemical management, SDS systems, and required reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Prepare, review, and submit internal and external reports for governmental agencies and corporate stakeholders, including OSHA, EPA, IDEM, IDHS, and other applicable authorities.
  • Lead emergency preparedness activities, including emergency action plans, spill response, evacuation drills, fire safety, business continuity coordination, and response equipment readiness.
  • Establish and track EHS metrics, trends, corrective action status, audit findings, and performance indicators; communicate results and recommendations to site and functional leadership.
  • Support change management, new equipment/process reviews, contractor management, facility modifications, and operational readiness activities to ensure EHS risks are identified and controlled before implementation.
  • Promote employee engagement through safety committees, gemba walks, coaching, safety observations, awareness campaigns, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or a related scientific or technical field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, radiopharmaceutical, laboratory, or similarly regulated industrial environments.
  • Prior experience leading EHS programs, audits, inspections, incident investigations, regulatory reporting, training, and corrective action management required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and management systems, including OSHA general industry standards, EPA/IDEM environmental requirements, hazardous waste management, industrial hygiene principles, emergency preparedness, and contractor safety.
  • Experience in cGMP, pharmaceutical, radiopharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, laboratory, or highly regulated production environments strongly preferred.
  • Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Supervisory, project leadership, or cross‑functional program management experience preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence across functions, coach employees and leaders, and build a proactive safety culture.
  • Excellent knowledge of EHS compliance requirements, risk management practices, incident investigation methods, corrective action systems, and audit readiness expectations.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills with the ability to assess complex operational risks and implement practical controls.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare regulatory reports, executive summaries, training materials, SOPs, and site communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead cross‑functional initiatives, drive accountability, and follow through on commitments in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with EHS management systems, learning management systems, document control systems, SAP, LabLogic, or other site‑specific software platforms preferred.
  • Excellent professional ethics, integrity, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Applies AI to improve team execution and decision‑making.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of thisjob, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by thisjobincludeclose vision and distance vision. This is a position that requires working in laboratory and pharmaceutical production environments containing chemical and radiological hazards; protective clothing, gloves, and safety glasses are required while working in these environments. The employee must be able to pass all aspects of respirator fit testing, including medical clearance.

Compensation Overview

Indianapolis - RayzeBio - IN: $124,449 - $150,803

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full‑time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job‑related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
