A Brief Overview

Manages the day-to-day activities and technical services of assigned neurodiagnostic area(s) in accordance with professional and MLH standards of practice. What you will do
  • Plans, organizes, implements, and coordinates activities and technical services for assigned neurodiagnostic area(s); monitors operations to ensure standards and objectives are being met; develops and implements limited or short-term plans to keep operations moving smoothly.
  • Plans and schedules work ensuring distribution of assignments and adequate staffing based on workload and productivity standards.
  • Manages the activities of Associates; monitors Associates performance and clarifies work expectations, and assists with goal setting; promotes cooperation among individuals and groups.
  • Develops and implements processes through orientation, training and education to ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved and demonstrated throughout their employment.
  • Develops and monitors expense budgets for assigned area(s), authorizes expenditures.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of capital budget and plans to control costs and improve department operations.
  • Develops and maintains performance standards to include quality assessment/improvement programs.
  • Develops and recommends procedures to improve operational efficiency and quality of service provided.
  • Investigates and monitors trends and clinical developments within the field of practice; introduces new procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational policies, regulatory agencies, and/or accrediting agencies.
  • Develops and implements training and continuing education programs for staff.
  • Advances the profession through participation in professional organizations, and completes the required continuous training and education to include department specific requirements.
  • Ensures good working relationships between departments; serves as a resource and liaison with physicians for advanced problem solving related to the services provided.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
  • Required - Bachelor's Degree Clinical
  • Preferred - Associates Degree
Work Experience Requirements
  • Required - Progressive management in field of neurodiagnostic assigned 3-5 years
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
  • Required - Registered Electroencephalographic Technician - American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists
  • Preferred - Registered Evoked Potential Technologist - American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists
  • Preferred - Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring - National Institutes of Health
  • Preferred - Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist - American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists
  • Preferred - Registered Evoked Potential Technologist - American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists
  • Preferred - Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring - American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists
  • Preferred - Registered Polysomnographic Technologist - Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of clinical practice, procedures, and regulatory standards gained through job relevant work experience. Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Associates, management, physicians, and patients and their families. Ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups of people toward the accomplishment of work and organizational goals. Skill in negotiating with and between individuals and groups of people, including Associates, management and physicians. Ability to plan and schedule tasks and projects and to maintain control of own and others’ work flow. Ability to work without close supervision or professional guidance and to exercise independent judgment.

Supervision Provided by this Position

Provides direct and/or indirect supervision for Associates in assigned area(s).

Physical Demands

The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination.

The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.

The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work. The Associate may be exposed to infectious disease. The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.
