Job summary

Highmark is seeking a qualified candidate to oversee daily operations and functions of the department. The role requires in-depth knowledge of business systems, data warehousing, and reporting. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of experience in healthcare reporting and analytics. The pay range is between $102,700 and $164,600, with the flexibility for travel up to 25%.

Job description

Job Summary

This role oversees all daily operations and functions of the department. The incumbent must possess in-depth knowledge of business systems, data warehousing, data collection, and reporting. They will ensure that all summary and analysis reporting projects are mechanically, statistically, and theoretically accurate. They are responsible for summarizing and presenting results to enhance the organization’s understanding of underlying trends, results, and implications, and for organizing, assigning, and actively managing to completion the department’s data analysis projects.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform management responsibilities including hiring, termination decisions, coaching, development, rewards, performance management, and staff productivity.
  • Plan, organize, staff, direct, and control the day‑to‑day operations of the department.
  • Develop and implement policies and programs as needed.
  • Oversee budgetary responsibilities and authority.
  • Serve as the decision‑support analytics subject‑matter expert for dashboard and report development supporting key clinical and operational initiatives.
  • Maintain key relationships with leadership and stakeholders to identify and communicate performance and continuous improvement opportunities for quality improvement and clinical effectiveness.
  • Oversee sourcing, assessment, definition, and maintenance of business data to ensure integrity, quality, validity, and applicability for ongoing trend analysis.
  • Guide enhancements to analytic capabilities focusing on measurement, benchmarking, and value metrics.
  • Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of analytical processes and reports supporting the group’s performance internally and versus industry benchmarks.
  • Manage utilization of measurement tools, statistical methods, and benchmark comparisons to analyze outcome measures supporting organizational goals.
  • Partner with leadership and process owners to define key metrics and analytic needs for dashboards, scorecards, and reporting solutions.
  • Implement special initiatives to address reporting and analytics needs as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Education
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical‑related field, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, or related discipline; or equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical‑related, business, healthcare, or health information field.
Experience
  • Minimum: 5 years of progressive experience in a clinical or reporting and analysis domain within a healthcare organization; prior leadership and/or project management experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in a clinical area/function/organization.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Minimum: None.
  • Preferred: None.
Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of SAS and SQL.
  • Advanced computer skills with strong knowledge of spreadsheet programs.
  • Ability to perform under stressful and changing circumstances, meet deadlines, and provide effective written and oral communication; strong problem‑solving, project management, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and HIPAA regulations.
