Job summary

Red Hat is seeking a senior data engineer with a strong background in data architecture, ETL/ELT development, and data governance to design scalable analytics platforms. The role includes leading a global team and ensuring data reliability across critical reporting cycles.

The successful candidate will architect and optimize data warehouses (Oracle, SQL Server, Redshift, Snowflake) and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver predictive insights and robust data models for business intelligence

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent.
• 9+ years in data architecture, ETL/ELT, data modeling, governance or data warehousing.
• 3+ years in data integration, API-based data engineering and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop data solutions using SQL and Python to transform, validate, and analyze complex datasets.
• Provide technical leadership for a global team of Data Engineers and Business Analysts; conduct code reviews and mentor staff.
• Serve as escalation point for complex data issues and ensure data reliability during critical reporting cycles.
• Architect and support data warehousing using Oracle, SQL Server, Redshift, Snowflake or similar platforms; develop data pipelines and SCDs.
• Enforce data governance and audit controls for data integrity in reporting and financial data.
• Support enterprise reporting by ensuring data processing, validation, and reconciliation across systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Evolve data frameworks to support planning, forecasting, and changing business needs.

Job description

Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Red Hat, LLC office in Raleigh, NC.

Design and implement scalable data architectures and data models to support enterprise reporting, analytics, and business intelligence use cases. Design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines and workflows to process large-scale datasets, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.

What You Will Do:

• Develop data solutions using SQL and Python to transform, validate, and analyze complex datasets, enabling accurate and timely insights.
• Manage and provide technical leadership for a global team of Data Engineers and Business Analysts, including task prioritization, code reviews, and professional development while ensuring adherence to engineering best practices and standards.
• Serve as a primary escalation point for complex data issues, ensuring timely resolution of data discrepancies and maintaining high data reliability during critical reporting and operational cycles.
• Architect and support complex data warehousing solutions (e.g., Oracle,SQL Server, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake or similar platforms), including development of data pipelines and historical data tracking structures such as Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD).
• Establish and enforce data governance, data quality standards, and audit controls to ensure integrity, consistency, and compliance of data used for business and financial reporting.
• Support enterprise financial and operational reporting by ensuring accurate data processing, validation, and reconciliation across systems.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, supporting key initiatives such as customer lifecycle analysis, performance tracking, and forecasting.
• Contribute to the evolution of data frameworks and processes to support planning, forecasting, and evolving business needs, including adapting data models to reflect changing business rules and structures.

What You Will Bring:

• Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and nine (9) years of experience in the job offered or related role OR eleven (11) years of experience in the job offered or related role.
• Must have five (5) years of experience with: data architecture and scalable system design; ETL/ELT pipeline development and optimization; data modeling and schema design; data governance, data quality frameworks and audit controls; data warehousing; and data engineering with increasing ownership and delivery responsibility.
• Must have three (3) years of experience with: data integration and API-based data engineering; business data validation, reconciliation and compliance reporting; advanced SQL and database performance optimization; python for data engineering and automation; and technical mentorship, including code reviews and cross-functional collaboration.

The salary range for this position is $148,366 - $180,000/ year. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat's compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
