Manager, Data Analysis – Capital One Travel

At Capital One, data drives every decision. We are looking for a Data Analyst to support the Hotels Travel Agency team, partnering with product and engineering to define metrics, close tracking gaps, and translate domain complexity into reliable data the business can trust.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product and Engineering to define KPIs and build dashboards to track progress against goals.
• Conduct ad‑hoc deep‑dive analyses to drive decision‑making, including customer behavior studies and business impact analyses.
• Develop tracking plans and dashboards for measuring success of new product launches and monitoring A/B tests.
• Collaborate with Product to design clean A/B tests that run in parallel.
• Troubleshoot tracking and data trend issues.
• Work with Engineering to create a more approachable data model.
• Maintain clean, usable data to answer complex business questions.
• Mine data to extract specific, actionable insights.
• Identify and implement process, data, and reporting improvements.
• Improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Evaluate processes and tests through analysis.
• Implement strategic tests of products, initiatives, and marketing materials.
• Consult on design and implementation of new production and data storage systems.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) plus at least 6 years of experience performing data analytics, or a Master’s Degree plus at least 4 years of experience.
• At least 4 years of professional data analysis work.
• At least 4 years of programming experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in STEM disciplines.
• At least 7 years of professional data analysis work experience.
• At least 4 years of experience with Python, R, Spark, or SQL.
• Experience in people management (1+ year).
• Experience in project management (1+ year).
• Experience with Tableau (1+ year).
• Proficient in AWS services.
• Hands‑on experience using AI‑powered tools such as Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms.
• Ability to challenge and QA AI results.

Salary and Benefits

Salary ranges are location‑specific: McLean, VA – $164,800–$188,100; New York, NY – $179,700–$205,100. The role is eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, including cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives.
