Qualified candidates bring 5+ years in cybersecurity, deep knowledge of CSF/ATT&CK, and experience in multi-cloud and regulated environments.

We are seeking Cyber Security Professionals who are passionate about evaluating cyber capabilities, threat intelligence, and risk management to join our team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving cybersecurity governance, capability maturation, and risk transformation across Capital One.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the ongoing advancement of cybersecurity capabilities and services, through partnership with stakeholders and assessments to determine capability effectiveness and risk management practices using tools and frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
• Leverage cybersecurity data from multiple sources to produce new insights, risk indicators and program metrics
• Provide expertise during control and risk assessments ensuring issues and remediation plans are documented, owned and tracked to closure
• Drive the adoption of automation and tooling to streamline control monitoring, issue management, and risk reporting workflows
• Synthesize and present key cyber-risk insights for senior management forums, highlighting trends, systemic issues, and risk-reduction opportunities
• Mentor and guide associates, fostering consistent application of cyber-risk management methodologies and professional growth

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or information technology
• At least 4 years of experience evaluating, contributing to, or supporting development of cybersecurity capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience with cybersecurity frameworks and concepts such as NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, CMMC, FedRAMP, etc.
• 5+ years of experience performing analysis of or developing solutions for cyber threats, vulnerabilities, risks, or, events
• 5+ years of experience working on teams and presenting to stakeholders cybersecurity information such as metrics, threat intelligence, controls and/or requirements
• 4+ years of experience working in multi-cloud environments
• 4+ years of experience using security tools (e.g., Splunk, Crowdstrike, Qualys, or AWS Security Hub)
• 2+ years of experience in conducting investigations into cyber-enabled fraud, cybercrime, or advanced persistent threats
• 2+ years of experience in fraud methodologies, technologies and trends in first & third party frauds including deposit, identity theft and account takeover
• 2+ years of experience building queries for relational databases to analyze complex data sets for cyber fraud indicators
• 2+ years of experience in programming or scripting (SQL, Python, Perl, PHP, PowerShell)
• 3+ years of working in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• 3+ years of experience in a highly regulated industry (financial sector, financial technology, healthcare, or intelligence community)
• 1+ year of experience working with Generative and Agentic AI tools
• 2+ years of experience developing or interpreting cybersecurity metrics or dashboards
• Demonstrated familiarity with industry governance or financial governance processes
• Experience with risk management concepts, including identifying threats, assessing vulnerabilities, and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Ability to perform security incident analysis and assist with resolution, translating technical findings into clear, actionable reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Chicago, IL: $179,400 - $204,700 for Manager, Cyber Security. McLean, VA: $197,300 - $225,100 for Manager, Cyber Security. Plano, TX: $179,400 - $204,700 for Manager, Cyber Security. Richmond, VA: $179,400 - $204,700 for Manager, Cyber Security.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
