Job description

The Manager, Corporate Accounting owns the day-to-day accounting engine that everything else depends on: the recurring, high-volume operational close that turns ICON's daily activity into reliable, audit-ready financials.

This role owns critical corporate accounting workstreams: accounts payable & accruals, leases, fixed assets, and the general ledger, and will have the opportunity to build and lead the team that runs these key processes, working alongside the Controller to maintain policies, procedures, and controls that scale with headcount and entity growth, ensuring ICON's books are both accurate and timely delivered to management to provide key insights into the financial and operational progress of ICON.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Corporate Accounting & Monthly Close

  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for corporate accounting workstreams, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis across operating expenses below gross margin.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; establish, document, and continuously improve the close calendar, policies, and procedures so they scale with headcount and entity growth.
  • Own the Company's accounting for capitalized software, including the maintenance and application of the capitalization policy, reviewing cost and development stages of software projects in partnership with the Technology team, and executing monthly close entries.
  • Own accounting for payroll, benefits, and related liabilities, partnering with People Operations to ensure complete, accurate, and timely recording.

Payables, Leases & Fixed Assets

  • Oversee the classification of invoices processed by the accounts payable function and the procure-to-pay cycle, including vendor management, expense reporting, and corporate card programs; supervise AP staff and contract resources.
  • Own lease accounting under ASC 842 — new-lease analysis, schedules, remeasurements, and disclosures — across ICON's facilities and equipment portfolio.
  • Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and roll-forwards for ICON's facilities, equipment, and internal-use assets.

Controls, Systems & Process

  • Establish and enforce internal controls over corporate accounting; recommend and implement policy changes that improve accuracy, timeliness, and auditability.
  • Drive optimization and automation within NetSuite and connected systems to reduce manual effort and shorten the close, building toward an accelerated audit-ready financial infrastructure.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Supervise, develop, and grow the corporate accounting team; assign work, review output, set objectives, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to People Operations, Procurement, Facilities, and FP&A on recording, classification, and budget-versus-actual questions.

Audit & Reporting Support

  • Coordinate corporate accounting deliverables for the external audit — schedules, workpapers, and documentation — partnering with the technical accounting and reporting function on complex or non-routine matters.
  • Deliver accurate, timely corporate accounting data to support the preparation of consolidated financial statements, which are owned by the technical accounting and reporting function.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience with a strong foundation in general ledger, close management, and operational accounting.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or people management experience.
  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP system and financial systems, NetSuite and Coupa preferred
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including experience building and maintaining complex financial models, datasets, and pivot tables.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Project Teams, FP&A and other stakeholders.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Big 4 or large regional public accounting background strongly preferred.
  • Pre-IPO, high-growth, or multi-segment company experience a plus.
  • NetSuite experience preferred.
