Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group seeks a Manager, Controls System Integration in Boxborough, MA to lead cross‑functional teams through conception to start‑up of automated systems. You will define solutions, plan projects, recruit and mentor staff, and coordinate with regional offices to optimize delivery.

The role requires a BS in electrical engineering or related field with 7+ years in electrical/controls engineering, and 5+ years leading projects in packaging or life sciences industries, with

Qualifications

• 7+ years in electrical and controls engineering.
• Experience with packaging line integration or machine safety projects.
• Experience in food/household products or life science manufacturing.
• Experience overseeing projects with design and programming of integrated systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of electrical and controls engineers across multiple industries through the project life cycle.
• Define complex solutions for system integration projects and manage project scheduling.
• Interface with project teams and clients to ensure alignment with objectives.
• Undertake recruiting responsibilities and mentor the team.
• Coordinate workloads with regional offices and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Occasional telecommuting within reasonable distance; travel up to 25% to client sites.

Responsible for helping our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals. Specific duties include:Lead a team of electrical and controls engineers across CPG and Life Science industries multiple industries/sectors through the entire project life cycle including conception, proposal, specification, development, integration, testing, and start-up.Define complex solutions for multiple system integration projects, assign teams, monitor and support projects, create and support technical standards, and handle project scheduling, planning, and oversight.Interface with project teams and clients to ensure alignment with project objectives.Undertake recruiting responsibilities.Manage, motivate, and mentor the team; develop training objectives and strategies.Coordinate project workloads and activities; work with regional offices to help develop and modify methods and procedures.Clearly and effectively communicate project updates.Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team.Position allows for occasional telecommuting within reasonable distance of reporting office in Boxborough, Massachusetts.Position requires domestic travel up to 25% of time to travel to client sites for bid walks, client meetings, automation system testing, start-up and commissioning activities.Required Education and Experience:Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or foreign degree equivalent); and 7 years of relevant experience.Must have:At least 7 years of experience in electrical and controls engineering, automated processes, including packaging line integration or machine safety projects.At least 7 years of experience working within the food/household products or life science manufacturing industries, including experience with packaging OEMS.At least 5 years of experience overseeing projects that incorporate engineering, design, and programming of integrated and automated manufacturing systems.At least 5 developing electrical schematics, using PLC programming and HMI/SCADA.Salary: $177,466Benefits include:Comprehensive Health Benefits401(k) with Company MatchPTOAt Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
