The Manager, Community Service is a working manager maintaining a caseload at 49% of programming and is responsible for providing daily supervision of the Adult Program service providers within LightHouse's service area.
The Community Services Department at the LightHouse is a dynamic and compassionate team that provides essential support, education, and advocacy. Through its comprehensive range of programs, the department empowers individuals who are blind, low vision, or DeafBlind to lead independent, fulfilling lives and fosters a more inclusive and understanding community. The department organizes a variety of recreational and social activities that provide opportunities for individuals to connect with others, build friendships, and participate in community life. Activities may include sports, arts and crafts, cultural outings, and support groups, all designed to foster a sense of belonging and community.
A minimum of 3 years experience working in adult programming, rehabilitation teaching, or informal education. Experiencing managing a team is preferred.
Bicultural and bilingual welcomed, particularly in languages like American Sign Language, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Tagalog, or Vietnamese.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong Microsoft office skills and experience in database entry; strong interpersonal skills to relate to staff, blind/visually impaired students, and persons in the community with varied backgrounds and viewpoints. Ability to formulate individual, sequential training plan. Ability to move about within a variety of environmental conditions. Knowledge of braille desired.
Demonstrated attention to detail and in possession of problem-solving skills; flexibility and ability to multi-task; ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment; and grant and project oversight abilities.
