Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a compassionate recovery professional to serve as a Manager, Community Recovery in the Texas Hill Country Long-Term Recovery Operation. This Temporary Disaster Employee role is based in Austin, TX with frequent travel to impacted communities and a hybrid work setup.

Responsibilities include leading recovery program implementation, coordinating Long Term Recovery Groups, and developing budgets and project plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and innovative recovery professional to serve as a Manager, Community Recovery for the Texas Hill Country Flooding Long-Term Recovery Operation.

This is a Temporary Disaster Employee (TDE) position expected to last through May 2027, with the opportunity to extend based on business need. This is a hybrid position based in Austin, TX with frequent travel to impacted communities.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview)

The role reports to the Director, National Long-Term Recovery Operations and serves as the Community Recovery leader in an assigned geography when a Recovery Program is implemented post-disaster. The Manager is responsible for the implementation of the community recovery program, which includes acting as a convener, facilitative leader, and problem solver in recovery efforts in the impacted communities. The Manager will utilize an established strategy to develop and/or participate with Long Term Recovery Groups, Unmet Needs committees, and other coalitions of community leaders and stakeholders that will then identify and act on recovery priorities.

1. 1: Perform activities relating to the implementation, evaluation, design and management of program or service. Perform administrative, fiscal and inventory duties as needed to support program operations.
2. 2: Monitor program activities and develops status reports for management review.
3. 3: Collect and analyze data, identify areas of need and/or improvement, and develop recommendations for program improvement.
4. 4: Administer processes within assigned program area. Analyze operating practices and recommend revisions to improve established procedures.
5. 5: May perform activities that support funding and proposal initiatives.
6. 6: Develop and cultivate professional relationships with key internal & external partners/organizations.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications)

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Skills & Abilities: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of program or service and ability in creating presentations and developing training modules. Excellent oral and communication skills, including training and presentations. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Develop project plans, budgets, and strategies to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills to develop creative processes for continuous program or service improvements. Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to work on a team.

Travel: Travel is required. Must have a current, valid driver's license.

• Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
