Job summary
UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Manager, Clinical Education & Professional Development to identify and maintain evidence-based patient education materials for Ambulatory Clinic patients.
The role provides daily oversight of the department, collaborates with clinical leaders, evaluates curricula, and develops budgets to support education and workforce development within the organization.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree of Science in Nursing required.
- 5 years of experience in healthcare with at least 2 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Licenses: RN, BLS, and nursing professional development credentials or leadership certification within 1.5 years.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate continuous performance improvement aligned with Ambulatory Clinic targets.
- Provide daily oversight to meet financial goals and support education programs.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders to identify and prioritize departmental goals.
- Evaluate efficacy of educational programs and curricula and learning activities.
- Utilize resources to optimize benefits and identify cost-saving ideas.
- Develop annual budgets with ambulatory nursing administration and manage payroll/attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

The Manager, Clinical Education & Professional Development works under limited supervision to identify and maintain evidence-based content patient education materials for Ambulatory Clinic patients.

- Education Master's Degree of Science in Nursing
- Experience 5 years of experience in the healthcare field with at least 2 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in a hospital setting
- Licenses and Certifications (RN) REGISTERED NURSE - Required Licensure as a Registered Nurse by Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas Upon Hire and (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire and Certification in Nursing Professional Development or relevant certification in specialty area, education, or leadership within 1-1/2 Yrs
- Demonstrate continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual Ambulatory Clinic performance improvement targets.
- Provides daily oversight of the department to include meeting financial goals and objectives and supporting the activities and programs of the education team.
- Works collaboratively with clinical leaders to properly identify and prioritize goals and objectives to meet the needs of the department and/or organization.
- Evaluates efficacy and efficiency of clinical educational programs and curricula as well as any associated presentations and learning activities.
- Employs processes and workflows to enhance organizational support of clinical education and workforce development.
- Adheres and facilitates adherence by other personnel to all policies and procedures, code of ethics, Joint Commission standards, and nationally recognized standards of nursing practice. Reviews nursing assignments and revises as necessary to meet specific needs of patients and/or to ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Implements disciplinary interventions, including termination, as appropriate and in compliance with policy.
- Utilizes resources in manner which is appropriate and which optimizes resources for benefit of organization. Identifies efficiency or cost saving ideas and reports to executive leadership.
- Develops annual capital and operational budgets with assistance from ambulatory nursing administration personnel. Completes payroll editing at end of payroll cycle and maintains attendance records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
