Job summary

Hub Group is seeking a Capacity Planning Manager in Oak Brook, IL to drive driver optimization and oversee shipment assignments for Hub Group Trucking within a defined territory. You will analyze capacity, load planning, and driver utilization while ensuring compliance with hours-of-service regulations.

In this fast-paced role, you will partner with Intermodal Operations, Network Optimization, and Account Management to maximize equipment usage, meet service levels, and control costs per load.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• 2-3 years’ experience in transportation operations preferred.
• Proficiency with transportation management systems in a large corporate environment preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Must be a self-starter and a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze Driver Optimization solutions and assign loads to capacity in compliance with regulations.
• Support market planning and daily load plans for Hub Group Trucking drivers.
• Collaborate with Intermodal Operations and Network Optimization to maximize utilization.
• Confirm capacity coverage with terminals, operations and accounts ahead of customer needs.

Job Description

The Capacity Planning Manager is responsible for analyzing Driver Optimization solutions and overseeing the assignment of shipments to HGT drivers, done by the Capacity Planning team, within an assigned geographic territory. In this role, the Capacity Planning Manager is responsible for daily market planning and effective use of capacity, meeting customer service requirements, minimizing cost through loaded miles and maximizing available driver hours. Capacity Planning Manager reports to the Director of Intermodal Operations.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for analyzing Driver Optimization solutions and assigning loads to HGT Capacity in compliance with federal safety regulations, such as “Hours of Service” Federal Regulations, geographic considerations, equipment constraints to maximize driver utilization.
• Supports the development of market plan and is accountable for the capacity planning function which executes the daily load plans for Hub Group Trucking drivers of all inbound and outbound loads for an assigned geographic territory.
• Works with Intermodal Operations and Network Optimization to maximize equipment utilization and driver productivity
• Proactively works with Terminal Operations, Intermodal Operations and Account Management to confirm capacity coverage in advance of anticipated customer requirements.
• Plans and implements initiatives to improve routing and equipment utilization consistent with customer expectations and Network needs.
• Accountable for meeting established metrics, including loaded miles, driver utilization, service, safety and cost per load.

Minimum Qualifications

Salary

$75,000 / year base salary + bonus eligibility
