Job summary

Lanteris Space Systems in California seeks a senior engineer to lead the Spacecraft Subsystem C&DH team. You will design architectures, wirelists, command/telemetry databases and data buses while coordinating with AIT to resolve on-the-floor issues and support launches.

You will mentor staff, drive quality across deliverables, and collaborate with Systems Engineering and stakeholders to create clean hand-offs. Strong budget and scheduling ownership are essential.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident required.
  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field; M.S. preferred.
  • 8 years in aerospace or related field with electronics or electrical systems experience.
  • Experience leading engineering or product teams or projects.
  • Experience leading electrical designs through full lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with space environment and satellite systems.
  • Exposure to Rad Hard and COTS designs advisable.
  • Experience with analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.
  • Knowledge of RS-422/485, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire/Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C.
  • Familiar with design blocks: filters, power supplies, MCUs.
  • FPGA hardware implementation for flight applications.
  • DFX, root cause, derating analyses knowledge.
  • Fast-paced, autonomous, demanding environment capability.
  • Previous command and data handling experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting new business development and cost/schedule estimation.
  • Self-motivated with strong communication and documentation skills.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Lead your team: responsible for Spacecraft Subsystem Command and Data Handling (C&DH). This includes working cross-functionally to design C&DH subsystem architecture, wirelists, command & telemetry databases, and data buses. Furthermore, working alongside Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) to resolve on-the-floor anomalies and supporting spacecraft launch and orbit raising operations.
  • Focus on your team: Mentor, train, develop, provide opportunities for your team members based on personal, professional and business needs.
  • Ensure the highest quality: of all deliverables to stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative working environment: within your team as well as cross-functionally across the organization.
  • Be a partner: Support Internal and external stakeholders in the development of new architectures and hardware and collaboration with Systems Engineering and AIT to ensure clean hand-offs.
  • Continuously improve: Tease out product and/or process inefficiencies and make it better.
  • Own your portfolio cost models and budget: you proactively manage your budget, identify risks and opportunities to your work, and own your cost models to be used for new business proposals.
  • Own your portfolio schedule: you proactively manage to your schedule, and work alongside your peers to ensure stakeholder needs are met.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • A B.S. degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field. M.S. degree preferred.
  • 8 years of experience in aerospace or related field working electronics or electrical systems or product development for high reliability, space-based systems or for critical systems in fields such as automotive, transportation, or medical device, including experience in managing and/or leading engineering/product teams or projects.
  • Experience leading electrical engineering designs through the full lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with the space environment and its effect on satellite systems.
  • Exposure to both Radiation Hardened (Rad Hard) designs and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) designs will be great, which should position you to support growing our product lines across various space environment missions.
  • Experience with Analog, Digital, and Mixed-signal circuits.
  • Knowledge of electronics design and electrical communication standards, such as RS-422/485, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire/Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C.
  • Knowledge of common circuit blocks including filters, power supplies, and microcontrollers.
  • Exposure to FPGA hardware implementation for flight applications in the aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge of Design for excellence (DFX), root cause, derating, and related analyses.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere.
  • Amazing to have Prior Command and Data Handling Experience, including sound knowledge of related physical components and their relationships within various systems.
  • Experience supporting new business development/proposals, including estimating rough order of magnitude costs and schedules.
  • Self-motivated problem solver, with strong communication, and documentation skills.
Salary and Benefits
  • The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $110,000.00 - $184,000.00 annually.
  • The base pay for this position within New Jersey is: $110,000.00 - $184,000.00 annually.
  • The base pay for this position within Delaware is: $110,000.00 - $184,000.00 annually.
  • The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $122,000.00 - $203,000.00 annually.
  • The base pay for this position within California is: $127,000.00 - $211,000.00 annually.
