Job summary

TTX Company is seeking a senior Asset Management professional to direct the railcar movements to support maintenance and repair workflows. You will oversee field supervisors, ensure data integrity, and optimize paid storage and fleet utilization.

Responsibilities include leading regional teams, coordinating with AAR and railroads, and driving continuous improvement in operations while maintaining safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required and five to ten years of related experience or training.
  • Experience in logistics or transportation field highly desirable.
  • Proven experience supervising seasoned technical professionals; ability to direct others and monitor workload.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support regional field supervisors and other personnel supporting car movements for maintenance and scrap plans.
  • Set priorities for direct reports; provide guidance on AAR Rules and strategic plans.
  • Coordinate with railroads and AAR to promote success toward departmental goals.
  • Prepare and oversee tactical railcar movement plans to meet maintenance programs and maximize fleet utilization.
  • Oversee paid storage activities, invoicing, and weekly/monthly reporting.

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Directs the administration of the car movements necessary to meet the company’s maintenance schedules. This includes coordinating carflows into the company’s repair shop operations, ensuring adequate flow for consistent production with no down-time and controlling the arrival of the company’s railcars to independent repair facilities, rack fabricators, railroad rack repair/modificationfacilities and field maintenance operations. May manage a teamof region-basedfield supervisors and/or assistant managers.Responsiblefor the data integrity and accuracy of railcars moving to and fromfacilities.Oversees the company’s paid storage networktomaximizeuseofleasedcapacity,minimize switchingcostswhile promotingefficientflowsfor those cars being held for future modification and maintenance programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Based on knowledge and experience, may lead, manage, develop and support a teamof regional field supervisors (remote positions) and additional personnel (fixed day positions) responsible for supporting car movements that support maintenance and scrap plans.
  • Sets priorities for direct reports. Provides guidance and expertise on AAR Rulesapplicable to team,systemsfunction and integrations,and tacticaland strategicplansrelated to team activities.
  • Acts astheliaisonfor team of direct reports,withincorporate,attherailroads,andattheAARby maintaining relationships needed to promote success toward departmental goals.
  • Becomeproficientindutiesoffield supervisors and any additional direct reports.
  • Providecoverageforteam membersduringvacationsor business.
  • Assistwith DDCT as needed.
  • Reviewcurrent methodologyof allteam activityand offer suggestionsfor improvementon a continuousbasis.
  • Provideatleastquarterlyfeedbacktodirect reportsregardingperformanceand productivity.
  • Preparesand oversees the tacticalrailcar movement plansnecessary to meet the Company’s plans for maintenance and inspectionprograms, while minimizinglost revenue car days and maximizing fleet utilization.
  • ResponsiblefortacticalPaidStorageactivitiesincludingcararrivals,invoiceprocessing, weekly

and monthly reporting, monitoring operations, supervising car flows and ensuringthat only necessarycarsare stored. Submitspaid storage accrualsto ensureaccurate accounting for the paid storage budget.Coordinatewith ProgramFulfillment team and maintenance planning for capacity forecasting. Assists withstrategic activity including capacity forecasting, site reviewand selection, contract negotiation and compliance. Coordinates field audits as required.

  • Measures and monitors compliance rate on carsdirectedto Facilities. Identify areas for improvement where possible. Identifyroot cause issueswhen average complianceratesdecline, and notify and involve proper resources required to repair issues.
  • Managescar hire statuson carsdirectedto and fromFacilities. Ensurescarsretainaccurate NR codes/facility events to properly affect car hire.
  • May represent TTX on relevant AAR committees to protect TTX interests in industry discussions that impact the Asset Management group, such as DDCT.
  • Responsible for proper and timely Entity Master Data Management to ensure IRF, Division, Scrap, Paid Storage and Asset Sale facilities are updated to include all pertinent information for TTX internal systems to process cars correctly and stakeholders have access to information as needed. Internal systems include TTXMDM, UFD, Business Directory, etc.
  • As needed, works with MRO, FMO and Operational Excellence teams on developing MRO opportunities, and conducting field audits and inspections as needed, by utilizing the skillsets of the Regional Supervisor team.
  • Assists the Sr. Manager and Director of Asset Management in accomplishing the goals of the department by completing special projects as assigned, and may act for the Sr. Manager and Director in his or her absence.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree requiredand five to ten years of relatedexperienceand/or training. Railroad transportation, operations, or logistics experience desired.
  • Experienceinlogisticsortransportationfieldhighly desirable.
  • Proven experience supervising seasonedtechnical professionals.Able to understandand direct others, appropriately monitoringsuccessfulcompletion of fluctuatingworkloads and promoting good cross-teamcoordination.
  • StrongskillsinMicrosoftExcel andsimilar computer programmingisrequired.Knowledgeor ability to learn other software available to developstatistics anddocumentationthat drive decision making and strategy is required.Ability to organize and preparenumerically-based information into actionable reports and presentations.
  • Generalknowledge of railroadoperations, freightcar rolling stock physicaland mechanical characteristics, andAAR interchangerules, or the aptitudeand interest to learn.
  • Comfortable in a fastpaced environmentwith variouspriorities.Strong abilityto prioritize based on department goals and current strategy. Strong follow-through skills.
  • Ability to read and interpretdocumentssuch as safety rules, operating andmaintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reportsand correspondence.
  • Abilitytospeakeffectivelybeforegroupsof customersandemployeesat alllevelsof the organization.
  • Abilityto calculate figuresand amountssuch asdiscounts,interest, commissions, proportions, percentages,area, circumference, and volume.
  • Abilitytosolvepracticalproblemsanddealwithavarietyofconcretevariablesinsituationswhere only limited standardization exists.
