Job summary

Veracyte in San Diego, CA is seeking a Manager, Software Test Automation to lead the Quality Engineering Platform team. This role builds scalable automation frameworks, self-service testing, and AI-enabled quality tools to accelerate software delivery while improving reliability, security, and compliance.

You will partner with Software Engineering, Product Management, CloudOps, Data & AI, and Laboratory Operations to embed quality across the SDLC, define strategy, and mentor SDETs and automation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• 6–7 years of software engineering or quality engineering experience.
• 3 years leading Quality Engineering, SDET, or Developer Platform teams.
• Experience building engineering platforms that improve software quality and developer productivity.
• Strong background developing automated testing for cloud-native applications and distributed systems.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience building internal developer platforms, engineering tooling, or self-service engineering capabilities.
• Strong understanding of AWS, APIs, distributed systems, and modern software architecture.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and people leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing Quality Engineering Platform team.
• Define and execute long-term strategy for quality engineering and developer enablement.
• Build an engineering culture focused on innovation, ownership, and operational excellence.
• Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent and leadership.
• Develop self-service quality platforms and scalable automation frameworks.
• Define standards, reference architectures, and best practices for quality across teams.
• Enable continuous verification through automated gates, production validation, and release health checks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed quality throughout the SDLC.
