Munich Re is seeking a Manager & Actuary in New York City to support financial reinsurance transactions, involving deal structuring, marketing efforts, and ongoing maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or a related field, along with FSA certification and 5+ years in the life insurance or reinsurance industry. A competitive salary starting at approximately $178,945, plus bonus opportunities, is offered along with comprehensive benefits.

The Manager & Actuary provides support to financial reinsurance transactions. Support includes, but is not limited to: marketing, developing, structuring, executing and post-close deal maintenance of financial reinsurance transactions.

Responsibilities

• Organize, evaluate and analyze data provided for deals. This will require working with more senior actuaries.
• Develop and run deal models and pro-forma financial statement models specific to deals. This will require someone that can model the financial impact of a proposed structure with little supervision.
• Assist with creation of marketing materials, proposals, and internal approval memos. This will be a team effort but the individual is expected to compile various input for different people and use his/her own discretion in developing the work product.
• Review of legal documents under the guidance of external and internal counsel. Goal is to ensure legal documents are consistent with deal model.
• Participate in pricing and structuring discussions with client.
• Participate in internal discussions for approvals on deals.
• Manage post-close inquiries from client and/or internal stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyze on-going information on transactions and provide period reports.
• Help develop junior team members to increase the productivity and quality of work and increase the overall team performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or other related field.
• FSA required.
• 5+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance industry.
• Investment banking or capital markets experience a plus.
• Financial modeling experience.
• Solid understanding of life insurance products.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting.
• Ability to understand statutory and GAAP accounting.

For New York City based employees, the base salary range anticipated for this position is $178,945 - $197,782, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
