Job summary

Wellstar Cobb Breast and X-Ray Center is seeking a part-time Mammography Technologist to provide high-quality imaging and compassionate patient care. You will verify patient identity, explain the exam, and ensure privacy and comfort throughout positioning and transfers.

The role emphasizes safety, accurate labeling, and collaboration within a fast-paced radiology team. The position requires ARRT-R and ARRT-M certifications, BLS, and 1+ year of radiology plus mammography experience in a hospital

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year as Radiologic Technologist and 1 year mammography in a hospital.
• Certifications: ARRT-R, ARRT-M, BLS (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Use clinical judgment, clarify unclear orders, and assist in emergencies across imaging areas.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimize dose and technique, and keep equipment clean per guidelines.
• Perform and document required QC tests (ACR/MQSA) including Phantom, Visual Checklist, Repeat Analysis, etc.
• Ensure all images are labeled, oriented, and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture.
• Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked; apply shielding and immobilization devices.
• Provide clear pre/post-exam instructions, address questions, and train new team members.
• Maintain concise documentation; stay current with emails and required education.
• Communicate professionally and work well in a fast-paced team; strong anatomy and safety skills.

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly (AIDET) to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Use sound clinical judgment, clarify unclear orders (including RBAC for verbal orders), and assist in emergencies or across imaging areas when needed.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimize dose and technique, and keep equipment clean and ready per infection control/FDA guidelines.
• Perform and document required ACR/MQSA QC tests including Phantom, Visual Checklist, Repeat Analysis, Compression Pressure, Compression Thickness, Flat Field Test, Calibration and DICOM Printer Test.
• Ensure all images are accurately labeled, oriented, and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture for procedures.
• Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked; apply shielding and immobilization devices appropriately.
• Provide clear pre- and post-exam instructions, address questions or elevate to providers, and support training of new team members.
• Maintain concise, timely documentation; stay current with emails and required education.
• Communicate professionally, work well in a fast-paced team, and bring strong skills in anatomy, pathology, positioning, radiation safety, and mammography best practices.
