Job summary

InterMed is seeking a Mammography Technologist to provide high-quality breast imaging and compassionate patient care in a clinical setting. You will operate mammography equipment, acquire diagnostic-quality images, and ensure patient comfort and accurate documentation.

Collaboration with radiologists and staff is essential to timely results and adherence to MQSA and accreditation standards. The role requires ARRT Advanced Certification in Mammography and completion of an AMA-accredited

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of an AMA accredited Radiography program.
  • Minimum 8 hours of documented digital mammography training.
  • Minimum 8 hours of documented digital tomosynthesis training.
  • ARRT advanced certification in Mammography.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mammography equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms according to orders and protocols.
  • Explain procedures to patients and address concerns to reduce anxiety.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Stay current on best practices and accreditation requirements.
  • Provide orientation and training of new mammography technologists.
  • Maintain confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA and InterMed policies.

Job description

SUMMARY: The Mammography Technologist willbe responsible forproviding quality mammography studies as ordered byInterMedphysicians and external physicians using ACR guidelines and excellent interpersonal skills.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate mammography equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.Produce mammograms of consistently high quality by usingoptimaltechniques in following areas:
  • Proper adjustment of equipment
  • Appropriate positioning of patient
  • Minimizing patient discomfort while preventing motion
  • Adjustment of protective lead shields
  • Appropriate patient and image identification and processing
  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms according to physician orders and radiology protocols.
  • Ensure proper positioning and compression tooptimizeimage quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Explain procedures to patients, addressing concerns to reduce anxiety.
  • Maintainaccuratepatient records and documentation.
  • Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensuretimelyandaccurateresults.
  • Perform quality control checks and routine maintenance on imaging equipment.
  • Stay current on best practices, accreditation requirements, and continuing education in mammography.
  • Perform and document Quality Control duties as defined by the American College of Radiology and according to department protocol.
  • Recognize and report any malfunction or variation of equipment to lead QC technologist or supervisor.
  • Monitor supplies andorderas necessary.
  • Cover other sites or modalities as requested/needed, (if cross trained).
  • Provide orientation and training of new mammography technologists.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution techniques.with patients, co-workers,physiciansand other members of the health care team.
  • Maintain certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and American Registry in Mammography.
  • Maintain certification by Mainestatelicensebureau.
  • Perform other related dutiesincidentalto worktherein.
  • Participate in andmaintainall criteria of the MQSA EQUIP program.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines andInterMedpolicies.
  • Perform other duties to support the mission,visionand values ofInterMed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of an AMA accredited Radiography program
  • Minimum8-hours of documented digital mammography training
  • Minimum8-hours of documented digital tomosynthesis training
  • Experience:
  • Previousradiology experience preferred.Previousmammography experiencestronglypreferred.
  • License/Certifications:
  • ARRTadvanced certification in Mammography
  • Ability to use independentjudgment.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the breast, axilla, and chest wall.
  • Skill in training co-workers in equipment operationspreferred.
