Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking an experienced Radiologic Technologist to operate X-ray equipment and produce diagnostic radiographs. The role involves assisting physicians, reviewing prior reports, and serving as a contact for multiple medical departments.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• An Associate's Degree in an accredited RT program or completion of an accredited RT program.
• Active NJ DEP radiologic license and ARRT Radiography certification.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Position patient on examining table and adjust immobilization devices.
• Explain procedures to reduce patient anxiety and gain cooperation.
• Position and adjust X-ray equipment to obtain correct exposure factors.
• Apply radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patient and staff.
• Operate mobile X-ray equipment in OR/ER/at bedside as needed.
• Specialize in screening and diagnostic mammography imaging.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for operating X-ray equipment that produces radiographs designated areas of the body for diagnostic purposes. Assists physicians in performing the imaging procedures, reviews and correlates patients' previous reports, and acts as a point of contact for various medical departments. Ensures proper documentation during the exam as required. Performs specimen imaging when necessary and ensures that the specimens are sent to pathology with proper labeling.

Principal Accountabilities

1. 1. Positions patient on examining table and changes immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
2. 2. Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
3. 3. Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance basis knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
4. 4. Practices radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
5. 5. Operates mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
6. 6. Specializes in production of screening and diagnostic x-rays for detection of breast tumors.
7. 7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required:

• HS Diploma or GED
• Associate's Degree in an accredited RT Program or Completion of an accredited RT Program.
• NJ DEP license.
• ARRT Radiography Certification.
• CPR Certified.

Preferred:

• Minimum of 200 mammography exams performed within past 24 months.
• ARRT Mammography certification (obtained within 1 year of hire).
