Job summary

Inova Center for Personalized Health is seeking a Mammography Technologist (Mammo Tech) on a PRN basis. The role involves assisting physicians, ensuring safety, and adhering to department protocols within a hospital setting in Falls Church, VA.

Qualified candidates graduate from an accredited radiography program, hold ARRT certification, and obtain Mammography certification within a year. BLS from the American Heart Association is required.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited radiography program.
• ARRT certification required for Radiologic Technologist; Mammography certification within one year of offer accepted.
• Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians in examinations using standard protocols and sterile technique.
• Recognize and address clinical or emergent problems affecting exams.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and in-services.
• Understand intravenous medications, heparin locks, and central line usage related to Mammography.
• Apply radiation protection procedures and shielding measures.

Mammography Technologist (Mammo Tech) Job Responsibilities

• Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them while producing the most desirable outcomes.
• Participates in department/hospital performance improvement initiatives, in-services, meetings, and community programs.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of intravenous medications, heparin locks, and central line usage as they pertain to Mammography.
• Demonstrates the effective use of radiation protection procedures with culmination devices and protective shielding.

Mammography Technologist (Mammo Tech) Additional Requirements

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of radiography.
• License: Must be certified by ARRT as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain Mammography Certification within one year upon acceptance of the offer.
• Certification: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
• Experience: Prior experience as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and/or Mammography Technologist in a hospital/healthcare environment, preferred.
