Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to verify patient identity, review mammography history, and perform digital imaging while ensuring image quality and patient safety. The role requires ARRT certification and MQSA training with strong collaboration with radiologists.

Responsibilities include assisting in invasive procedures, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining accurate patient records and PACS submissions.

Qualifications

  • ARRT certification in Radiology and ARRT Mammography registry required within six months of hire.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Graduate of an AMA/ARRT approved two-year Radiologic Technology program.
  • Must meet MQSA mammography training requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient ID armband and proof of identity.
  • Review patient mammography history and correlate with prior exams.
  • Perform digital imaging acquisition and manage image display/archive/ retrieval.
  • Evaluate image quality and consult radiologist when needed.
  • Assist radiologist during invasive procedures and maintain sterile technique.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain patient records, including orders, charges, and ensure correct exam is sent to PACS.

Job description

Major Responsibilities:

Verifies patient ID armband andvalidatesproof of identity.


Reviews patient mammography medical history and correlatesprior mammograms to ensure the correct examination is being performed.


Performs digital imaging acquisition and recognizes factors that affect image acquisition, display, archiving, and retrieval.


Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a radiologist if needed.


Assistsradiologist during invasive procedures and practices proper sterile technique in the assembling of necessary supplies.


Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department supervisor. Performs troubleshooting and minor repair procedures under the direction of clinical engineering.


Maintains patient records to include completing orders correctly, charging exams andsuppliesand verifying correct exam was sent to PACS.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

ARRT certification in Radiology and advanced registry from the ARRT in Mammography within six months of hire required.


BLS required.


Education Required:

Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA and ARRT approved program in Radiologic Technology required. The R.T. must have met the federal mammography training requirements as specified in the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992(MQSA).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This position requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients,equipmentand supplies. Must be able to push, pull, and lift weights of up to 600 pounds withassistance. Requires frequent standing, sitting, walking,bendingandlifting.Requiredto stretch, bend, twist, squat, and kneel in the daily operation of the Mammography department. Exposure to various physical conditions such as walking on hard surfaces and climbing stairs. Able to adapt to changes in temperature and humidity. Required to use radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation.
