Job summary

IHA seeks a Mammography Technologist at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital to perform diagnostic breast imaging per department protocols. You will validate orders, document patient history, and position patients while collaborating with radiologists.

Responsibilities include advanced imaging procedures, QA/QC, infection control, and patient education, ensuring high-quality images and timely results in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Completion of a JCERT accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
• Maintain Continuing Education credits (24 CEC in two year period) and other ARRT requirements.
• Maintain 15 Continuing Education credits (CEC) in Mammography within a 3-year period.
• Two years' experience as a Radiologic Technologist is preferred.
• Registered Radiographer by ARRT.
• Registered Mammography Technologist by ARRT or registry-eligible and must achieve Mammography-certification within six months of hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient's chart and results from previous mammographic procedures.
• Greets patient and identifies self by name and checks two patient identifiers.
• Review and update patient's breast health history and records in the tracking system.
• Explains the procedure(s) to the patient to allay apprehensions.
• Determines appropriate diagnostic images and region to be examined based on history and physician request.
• Performs diagnostic procedures with various mammographic equipment.
• Demonstrates advanced breast imaging techniques (spot compression, magnification, implants, tomography, etc.).
• Maintains knowledge of breast anatomy to optimize image quality.
• Performs and documents breast examinations and clinical findings.
• Monitors patient condition and initiates appropriate responses as needed.
• Provides accurate diagnostic image identification and image quality critique.
• Collects and forwards completed images to interpretation location.
• Collaborates with radiologist on next steps until exam completion.
• Delivers patient hand-off to staff and radiologist.
• Communicates results to patient in diagnostic setting.
• Discusses breast health and imaging recommendations with patient.
• Maintains infection control and sterilization practices.
• Ensures correct physician order, ICD10 code, and charges are recorded.
• Performs QA/QC testing per guidelines.
