Albert Einstein Medical Center is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform mammography exams, screenings and diagnostic studies at Einstein Center One and Elkins Park site. The role includes assisting during invasive procedures and delivering patient care and education around imaging services.

The ideal candidate holds a specialized radiologic sciences diploma or ARRT(R) certification, with mammography imaging knowledge and BLS.

Qualifications

• Specialized diploma in radiologic sciences or ARRT Radiology (R) certification.
• Knowledge of mammographic imaging techniques and how to obtain diagnostic-quality breast images.
• Ability to prepare patients and monitor reactions during and after procedures.
• Mammo-Specific training (40 hours for post-1999 qualification) with Digital Mammography experience.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• ARRT registered radiologic technologist credential.

Responsabilités

Summary

The Mammography Technologist performs mammography exams, screenings and diagnostic studies, and assists during invasive procedures. Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Job Duties

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.(Do not delete, move or over-write this statement)
• Operates mammography equipment and performs various mammography-related examinations to produce radiograph images for clinical screening and diagnostic purposes.
• Ensures successful procedure by ensuring appropriate patient and breast position, instructing patient throughout the procedure, and adjusting compression mechanisms and equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• Provides staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards.
• Documents patient mammogram services by completing patient record charting.
• Obtains complete and accurate history and delivers care and support services to clients before, during and after mammogram procedures, e.g. explaining procedures, answering inquiries, etc.
• Ensures operation of mammography equipment by completing preventive maintenance, use instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, and maintaining equipment inventories.
• Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.
• Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job position
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma Graduate of a recognized School of Radiology Sciences or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R)
• Knowledge of techniques and procedures used in mammographic imaging, ability to produce images of internal body structures for diagnosis and early detection of breast diseases in women.
• Knowledge of and ability to prepare patients for diagnostic/radiological imaging and to monitor patients’ reactions during and after a procedure. Responds to emergent situations by applying appropriate measures.
• Mammography Technologists initially qualifying on or after April 28, 1999 must meet the Mammo-Specific requirements by having at least 40 hours of documented training in Mammography. Documented training in Digital Mammography.
• BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association
• RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

• May require travel between Jefferson sites

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient’s weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
