Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital

Pursue your passion for caring with Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina. The smallest of Duke Health’s four hospitals at 123 beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.

Job Summary

Perform a variety of technical activities associated with screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.

Work Performed
  • Operate mammographic and radiographic equipment as needed.
  • Position patients, using immobilization when necessary.
  • Calculate exposure factors and assist physicians.
  • Perform quality control functions related to mammography.
  • Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality and obtain additional images if necessary.
  • Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate.
  • Explain procedures to patients.
  • Charge procedures and supplies in Maestro or EPIC.
  • Provide orientation and training to new and student Mammographers.
  • Assist in maintenance and statistical data compilation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all breast imaging procedures, including interventional procedures.
  • Monitor procedures and supply charges for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Level characteristics and minimum qualifications are outlined, emphasizing certification, experience, and physical abilities.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved program meeting registry requirements or hold current registry/certification.
  • For Technologists qualifying after April 28, 1999, at least 40 hours of documented mammography training.
  • ARRT certification required at employment start; minimum of 25 mammography exams performed under supervision.
  • Experience levels vary from Level I (entry) to Level III (advanced), with specific requirements for each.
  • Certifications include ARRT in radiography, advanced mammography, FDA/MQSA qualifications, and BLS certification.
