Job summary

Advocate Health Care in Downers Grove, IL seeks a Radiologic Technologist specializing in mammography to perform screening and diagnostic exams, ensure image quality, and uphold MQSA standards. You will support advanced procedures and patient education while collaborating with physicians and a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include QA testing, documentation, and maintaining regulatory requirements. Ideal candidates hold ARRT and IDNS licenses and have Mammography certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA Approved Program in Radiologic Technology.
• 2 years experience as Radiologic Technologist or sonographer.
• Graduate of a Mammography certified program.
• Registered Radiologic Technologist/ARRT.
• IDNS License.

Responsibilities

• Screening and diagnostic mammograms per protocols MQSA ARRT IEMA guidelines.
• Deliver patient care per department/hospital standards.
• Label and identify all images accurately.
• Apply radiation protection to patients per standards.
• Document patient history using appropriate forms and database.
• Participate in advanced mammographic procedures such as wire localizations, galactograms, stereotactic biopsy and specimen radiographs.
• Demonstrate proper use of all procedural equipment.
• Discuss reporting structure to physician and act as liaison to the patient.
• Provide pre and post procedure education for patients.
• Transport specimens to pathology.
• Perform QA testing per MQSA quality control standards.
• Promote breast health education and awareness.
• Participate in College of Dupage mammography program education.
• Participate in Mammography sub-committee programs.
• Maintain ECE requirements yearly.

Job description

Major Responsibilities

Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms on physician referred patients according to established clinical protocols and MQSA, ARRT and IEMA guidelines.

• Delivers patient care in accordance with department /hospital standards.
• Accurately labels and identifies all images
• Applies radiation protection to patient in accordance with accepted radiation standards for mammography
• Documents patient history and all pertinent clinical information using appropriate forms and database.

Participates in advanced mammographic procedures such as wire localizations, galactograms, stereotactic biopsy and specimen radiographs.

• Must be able to demonstrate proper use of all procedural equipment.
• Must be able to discuss reporting structure to physician for the patient.
• Must be viewed as a liason to the patient for facilitating and directing to other resources for additional information and addressing issues outside the scope of the mammography service.
• Provides pre and post procedure education and instruction to the patient appropriate to the patient’s needs and requirements
• Able to document and transport specimens to pathology

Performs mammography equipment and processing QA testing in accordance with MQSA quality control and assurance standards based upon manufacturers recommendations.

Participate in promoting education of breast health awareness and the mammography process

• Participate in clinical training of our partnership with the college of Dupage mammography program.
• Participate in the Mammography sub committee programs
• Must maintain appropriate ECE requirements yearly

Education/Experience Required:

• Graduate of AMA Approved Program in
• Radiologic Technology
• 1
• 2 years experience as Radiologic
• Technologist or sonographer

Knowledge of breast anatomy

• Need to recognize patients experiencing fear or anxiety
• Needs to be able to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e. understand the differences of female growth and development, and look for signs of normal aging; degree of under-

standing and physical limitation related to age

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle anxious and fearful patients

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015.

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-wise basis. Addendum: NOTE:
