Job summary

Henry Ford Health seeks a Radiology Technologist specializing in Mammography to rotate across multiple Henry Ford Mammography sites in Michigan. Under a Radiologist, you will perform breast imaging procedures, ensure patient safety, and follow MQSA standards.

Required: High School Diploma or GED and ARRT Mammography (M) registration or registry eligibility with timely completion. Preference for advanced ARRT(M) registry. Commitment to quality patient care and safety.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedure to patients and prepare patient for the examination.
• Obtain patient medical history information as necessary.
• Prepare procedure room and replenish stock as needed.
• Set up equipment and perform Radiologic breast imaging procedures.
• Control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
• Ensure radiation protection principles and ALARA practices.

Job Description

This position will rotate between the following locations:

Henry Ford Mammography- Kercheval

Henry Ford Mammography- St. Clair Shores

Henry Ford Mammography- New Baltimore

Henry Ford Anthony L. Soave Mobile Mammography

Henry Ford Mammography River District Hospital

Henry Ford Mammography- Warren

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs Radiologic breast imaging procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician. Performs related functions according to department protocols. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares patient for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination.

Obtains additional information about the patient medical history as necessary.

Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets up equipment and performs the Radiologic procedure.

Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.

Utilizes patient immobilization as needed.

Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection: may involve shielding of patients, selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduction dose, using other ALARA techniques, etc.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required

Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Mammography, ARRT (M) (or registry eligible)

If registry eligible, registry must be obtained within 12 months of date of hire

Failure to obtain registry within the designated time-frame will result in termination of the Mammography Tech position

Must maintain the required hours of continued medical education

Must meet all Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) criteria, as well as other regulatory agencies

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Candidates with the advanced registry in Mammography, ARRT (M), and/or prior Mammography experience are preferred.
