Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Mammography Technologist in Richardson, TX. The role involves performing advanced breast imaging procedures under radiologist supervision for ambulatory and hospital patients.

Candidates must have ARRT-M and BLS, plus at least 2 years of recent mammography experience; biopsies or ultrasound experience is a plus. Scheduling includes weekdays with some Saturday coverage and PRN shifts.

  • 2 years of recent Mammography Tech experience; biopsies/ultrasounds a plus.
  • ARRT-M Mammography and BLS certifications required.

  • Perform high-quality Breast Imaging procedures per exam protocol.
  • Communicate with patients using AIDET and obtain patient history as needed.
  • Position patients and adjust equipment to set exposure factors while ensuring safety.

Monday – Thursday, 7:30a-4:00p; Friday, 7am-3p (occasional Saturdays 8a-12p)

Shift:

PRN variable shifts

Setting:

4 mammography rooms, 1 bone density room, 2 ultrasound rooms

Required Certifications:

ARRT - M, BLS

Required Experience:

2 years of recent experience as a Mammography Tech; experience in biopsies and/or ultrasounds is a plus

Job Summary

The Mammography Technologist 2, under a Radiologist's supervision, performs advanced Breast Imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider. These are done for diagnosing disease and injury according to established protocols.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Performs high-quality Breast Imaging procedures according to exam protocol, promptly. Maintains production and quality by following established standards and procedures.
  • Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients; identifies patient service needs; ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient; establishes rapport with patients and others; instructs and communicates with patients and their families about the test; assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
  • Prepares the patient and area for the procedure by positioning the patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection‑control, drug, and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining the supplies inventory.
  • Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation including requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems and according to department policies and standards for interpretation promptly.

  • Able to perform high quality Breast Imaging procedures including stereotactic biopsies, needle localization, ultrasound‑guided biopsies.
  • Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease.
  • Able to provide services timely, accurately, and cost‑efficient in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Able to perform tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.
  • Able to stay calm and helpful during stress and take reasonable steps to resolve issues.
  • Able to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.
  • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric care.
  • Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION – Grad of an Accredited Program

  • CERTIFICATION/​LICENSE/​REGISTRATION –

Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT): Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).

ARRT-M Mammography (ARRT-M): Must have ARRT-R and ARRT-M.
