Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist (Mammography) to perform screening and diagnostic mammograms and routine radiology exams for patients of all ages. The role emphasizes compassionate patient care, accuracy in data entry, and adherence to safety standards.

The ideal candidate will be ARRT registered with mammography credentials or registry-eligible and hold a Rhode Island radiographer license, plus CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High school graduation and formal radiologic technology training (2 years).
• ARRT registration required; mammography registry eligible with plan to obtain within 1 year.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain medical history and enters data into mammography system.
• Differentiates screening vs diagnostic mammograms based on clinical indication and patient history; consults Radiologist when necessary.
• Performs views for screening and diagnostic mammography: CC, MLO, oblique, coned down compression, magnification, and other views as requested.
• Sets up room using aseptic techniques for special exams; assists radiologists in breast localizations using sterile technique.
• Performs and documents QA/QC tests as mandated; reviews image quality and reports equipment problems to lead technologist.
• Maintains patient flow, coordinates with mammo team to optimize schedule and keeps inventory of supplies.

SUMMARY:

Performs mammographic examinations, to include screening and diagnostic, breast needle localizations, and specimen radiographs. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interviews patients to obtain accurate medical history, physician address and enters data into mammography system.

Demonstrates ability to differentiate between a screening and diagnostic mammogram based upon clinical indication and patient history and checks discrepancies with Radiologist when necessary.

Demonstrates ability to perform all views required for screening and diagnostic mammography, to include:

• Cranialcaudal
• Mediolateral
• Oblique
• coned down compression
• Magnification
• Tail
• Twist
• Augmentation
• BB localization of dermal lesions
• Other views as requested by radiologistSets up room using aseptic techniques for special exams, i.e. biopsies, localizations and assists radiologists in breast localizations, utilizing sterile technique.Performs and documents all QA/QC tests as mandated by the State of Rhode Island, FDA, and ACR underneath of senior mammography technologist.Assists patients in requesting information on breast cancer and provides patients with printed literature on mammography and ACS recommended guidelines and reading procedure.Checks and reviews the technical quality of all mammography images and understands:- effects of KV- Film/screen combination- Compression- Positioning- Processing- Proper selection of AEC modes and manual techniques per patient.Demonstrates ability to evaluate images and take additional films, as necessary.Demonstrates knowledge of procedures to report equipment-related problems to proper authority.Checks equipment and mammography accessories (compression paddle, grids, etc.) to ensure they operate properly and reports failures to lead technologist.Provides reassurance to patients, as necessary.Reviews patient schedule and coordinates patient flow with other mammo tech to insure optimum use of schedule.Maintains adequate inventory of supplies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS:High school graduation, or equivalent, and satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training of two years duration.ARRT registered.Holds a valid State of Rhode Island Radiographer license.At least 3- 6 months experience as a Radiologic Technologist, performing routine diagnostic radiology exams.ARRT Registered in Mammography or registry eligible, with a commitment to taking and successfully passing the registry within one year.Current CPR certification.Must be able to stand/walk 3-7 hours, squat 1-3 hours per day with frequent bending and twisting and lift 10-35 lbs with good body mechanics.Must be able to use both hands/wrists with extensive deviation and frequent fine motor movement with repetition.Near/far vision accurate at 20/40 and moderate depth perception with minimal color discrimination.Must hear whisper at three feet.

Pay Range:

$39.56-$65.28
