Job summary

Trinity Health Of New England is seeking a Mammography Tech to perform radiographic imaging and detect breast tissue abnormalities for diagnosis. The role requires patient coordination, proper positioning, compression control, and adherence to safety standards.

The candidate should have ARRT and Mammography Certification with CT licensure and an associate degree in Radiologic Technology, plus preferred 2 years’ experience in mammography within an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized program in Radiologic Technology; Associate degree or higher required.
• Connecticut Radiology license required.
• ARRT and Mammography Certification required.
• Minimum 2 years mammography experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients by confirming patient identification, reviewing imaging request, checking for special instructions, and confirming anticipated service with patients.
• Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; explains imaging procedures and equipment; answers questions.
• Conducts mammography study by positioning breasts; adjusting compression; instructing patient to hold breath; operating equipment to obtain images.
• Maintains production and quality of mammograms by following standards; observes results; determines adjustments; retakes when needed; forwards completed images.

The mammography tech is responsible for detecting breast tissue abnormalities by completing mammographic imaging studies presenting them for diagnosis.

What You Will Do

• Greets patients by confirming patient identification; reviewing imaging request; checking for special instructions; confirming anticipated service with patients.
• Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures explaining equipment; answering questions.
• Conducts mammography study by positioning breasts; adjusting compression mechanisms instructing patient to hold breath; retreating to lead protected area; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors; activating equipment to take image; releasing compression mechanisms.
• Maintains production and quality of mammograms by following established standards and procedures; observing mammogram results; determining necessary adjustments for optimum results; retaking mammograms as required; forwarding completed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of a recognized program in Radiologic Technology; Associates Degree or above required.
• Licensure: Connecticut Radiology license.
• Certification: ARRT and Mammography Certified.
• Skills: Minimum 2 years working experience in the mammography modality preferred in an acute care setting.
