Job summary

Northwell Health in New York is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform diagnostic mammography procedures using X-ray and related equipment. You will prepare patients, position them for optimal testing, obtain quality images, and assist with image-guided breast procedures.

The role requires NY licensure, ARRT Mammography certification, and prior radiology experience, with a focus on infection control and patient safety throughout imaging workflows.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program, required.
• New York State licensure as Radiologic Technologist, required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for examination.
• Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve patient of anxiety.
• Ensures patient is screened according to protocol and consent obtained when necessary.
• Positions patient for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
• Sets-up equipment to administer the proper procedure in timely fashion.
• Performs mammography procedures.
• Obtains images as prescribed for physician interpretation.
• Assists physicians in mammographic image-guided interventional/special breast exams or procedures.
• Monitors patient condition during examination and reports abnormal changes.
• Reviews images in the computer system and ensures accuracy of patient data.
• Gathers previous related patient reports, as required.
• Performs minor repairs and adjusts equipment as required.
• Adheres to Infection Control guidelines and maintains cleanliness.

Job Responsibility

• Prepares patient for examination.
• Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve patient of anxiety.
• Ensures patient is screened according to protocol, and assures consent for the procedure has been obtained, when necessary.
• Positions patient for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
• Sets-up equipment to administer the proper procedure in timely fashion.
• Performs mammography procedures.
• Obtains images as prescribed for physician interpretation.
• Assists physicians in mammographic image-guided interventional/ special breast exams or procedures.
• Monitors patient condition by directly observing patient during examination, recognizing and reporting abnormal changes.
• Acknowledges and reviews images in computer system. Ensures accuracy of all patient data. Processes imaging and prints CDs, as required.
• Gathers previous related patient reports, as required.
• Performs minor repairs and adjusts equipment, as required.
• Adheres to Infection Control guidelines in the performance of duties. Maintains cleanliness of work area, equipment and accessories.
• Performs related duties as required

Job Qualification
