Responsibilities

• Maintains Mammography reporting system with accurate patient data and follow-up communication.
• Oversees Mammography Quality Assurance program and schedules QA meetings per MQSA.
• Assists with ACR accreditation for breast imaging equipment and documentation.
• Performs/assists diagnostic breast imaging procedures in accordance with radiation safety regulations.
• Ensures accurate patient records via data entry and image archival.
• Provides education and consultation to healthcare staff to improve patient care.

Education/Experience

Associate's degree (or Two-Year Professional Program) from an approved school of Radiologic Technology with three years' experience performing mammographic procedures. Mammography Quality Assurance (QA) Tech experience. Knowledge of MQSA and ACR requirements.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, And/or REGISTRATION

Valid registration by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists. ARRT certification in both Radiology and Mammography (meeting all MQSA/FDA requirements to perform Breast imaging). CPR certification required.

Essential Functions

• Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures. Participates in departmental in-service and educational offerings. Contributes to the overall quality of services.
• Maintains the Mammography reporting system by accurately and efficiently entering patient information related to mammography findings and pathology results. Ensures result communication to the patient and provides follow-up to physician recommendations.
• Provides oversight of the Mammography Quality Assurance program. Schedules regular QA meetings as required by MQSA to include all appropriate attendees and reviews equipment QA program to ensure compliance with all MQSA and ACR regulatory guidelines.
• Assists with ACR accreditation on all breast imaging equipment, including form completion and optimal quality image identification for ACR review in an effort to ensure Breast Care Center of Excellence designation is maintained.
• Performs or assists in performing diagnostic procedures in accordance with applicable state Regulation for Protection Against Radiation. Maintains appropriate education and credentials.
• Maintains coordinator of activities with others to accomplish work objectives.
• Maintains knowledge of procedures, equipment and systems used to perform job functions. Ensures availability of supplies and readiness of equipment. Reports equipment malfunctions promptly and appropriately.
• Ensures accurate patient records via correct data entry, validation and archival of images.
• Provides age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with Age/Development Specific Guidelines for the specific age groups served when participating in patient care.
• Provides instruction, education and consultation to health care personnel and patients to promote improved quality of patient care.
