Job summary

Trinity Health in Ankeny, IA seeks a Radiologic Technologist to independently perform mammography procedures under the direction of a Radiologist and/or manager in a highly technical and professional manner. Shift: Day Shift.

The role includes imaging for neonate to geriatric patients, patient and family education, collaboration with staff and physicians, supervising student technologists, and maintaining a safe, clean department environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited two-year Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registry eligible or Registered Radiologic Technologist (R) with ARRT.
  • Maintains active ARRT registry status.
  • Maintains current Iowa Permit to Practice.
  • Participates in ISRT or SCD professional society.
  • 1 CEU per year in Radiation Safety; 24 CEU’s every 2 years.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mammography procedures on scheduled shifts.
  • Operates mammography equipment.
  • Provides care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Educates and counsels patients and caregivers on health concerns.
  • Maintains open communication with staff, physicians, and departments.
  • Instructs, supervises, and evaluates student technologists.
  • Represents the department and hospital positively to community contacts.
  • Maintains a clean, stocked, and orderly department environment.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to the manager.

Education

Two-year Radiologic Technology program
ARRT registry eligible or Registered Radiologic Technologist (R)
Active ARRT registry status
Iowa Permit to Practice
Professional society participation (ISRT or SCD)
CEU: Radiation Safety 1/year; 24 CEU/2 years
BLS for Healthcare Providers
Mandatory Reporter abuse training completion

Independently performs mammography procedures under the direction of a Radiologist and/or manager in a highly technical and professional manner.

Shift:

Days, occasional Saturday

What you will do

Performs mammography procedures on scheduled shifts, operates mammography equipment.

  • Provides care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional, and environmental health problems.
  • Maintains open and positive communication with staff, physicians, and other departments.
  • Instructs, supervises, and evaluates student technologists.
  • Presents a positive image to community and professional contacts.
  • Promotes professionalism with the department, hospital, and community; acts as a role model.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing all exams according to protocol. Maintains the physical environment of the department in a clean, well-stocked, orderly manner.
  • Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any malfunctions to manager/Bio-med.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an accredited two year Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registry eligible or Registered Radiologic Technologist (R)
  • Maintains active registry status in ARRT
  • Maintains current Iowa Permit to Practice
  • Participates in professional society (i.e., ISRT or SCD)
  • 1 CEU per year in Radiation Safety/24 CEU’s every 2 years
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population serve within three (3) months of hire
