Job summary

Piedmont Columbus Midtown in Georgia is seeking a Mammography Technologist (PRN) to support the John B. Amos Cancer Center. This role performs breast imaging procedures using mammographic equipment and sterile techniques, including stereotactic and MRI-guided biopsies as needed.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of a JRCERT-approved Radiologic Technology program, with ARRT in Radiography and Mammography, and at least 1 year of mammography experience; BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a JRCERT approved Radiologic Technology program.
• 1-year experience as a Mammography Technologist.
• Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M) - ARRT.
• BLS certified.

Responsibilities

• Performs quality mammography procedures (screening, diagnostic).
• Reviews exam requisitions and notes pertinent information.
• Position patients and operate mammography equipment per protocol.
• Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and obtain additional images as needed.
• Maintain records and comply with regulatory agencies.
• Mentor residents and junior technologists.

Overview: Mammo Tech l, PRN, Piedmont Healthcare John B. Amos Cancer Center

JOB PURPOSE:

The Mammography Technologist performs specialized examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in patients. The Mammography Technologist performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate. Demonstrates ability to perform advance breast imaging procedures such as stereotactic and MRI biopsies and is competent/proficient with sterile procedures. Provides more complex technical care necessary to meet identified patient needs.

Responsibilities:

• 1. Performs quality screening, diagnostic and other mammography procedures.
• 2. Reviews all exam requisitions for pertinent information and makes notes on all additional pertinent information.
• 3. Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all required exams on patients, positioning the patient and equipment, selecting the protocol, technique and utilizing all required equipment.
• 4. Evaluate images for diagnostic quality, obtaining additional images as needed.
• 5. Ensures accuracy of each exam by following established procedures and labeling images correctly.
• 6. Provide Customer Service/Support to patient population.
• 7. Maintains all required records, reports, and files as required by Federal, State and other regulatory agencies.
• 8. May be required to demonstrate competence and proficiency in performing all radiological procedures on patients of all age groups. Positions patient, selects the correct protocol, and utilizes all required equipment.
• 9. Maintains proficiency to perform breast imaging interventional procedures.
• 10. Assist with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate timesequences.
• 11. Must be competent and proficient to position, select correct protocol and utilize imaging equipment on patients of all age groups for radiological exams, when requested.
• 12. Acts as a mentor for residents and junior technologists.
• 13. Ensures department meets all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an JRCERT approved Radiologic Technology program.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1-year experience as a Mammography Technologist.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M) - ARRT.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: BLS certified.
