Job summary

The UNLV University Libraries invites applications for a Makerspace Specialist in the School of Medicine Library. This role oversees the daily operations of the makerspace and provides expert instruction on multimedia technologies for education and research.

It leads outreach to KSOM faculty, students, residents and campus partners, shaping services that support knowledge creation. You will develop online learning objects, evaluate emerging technologies for potential adoption, coordinate

Qualifications

• Competence and sensitivity in working with diverse individuals across identity dimensions.
• Knowledge of design or fabrication using multimedia technology (e.g., prototyping, Laser cutting, 3D printing, AutoCAD, audio technologies).
• Ability to instruct learners (students, faculty, staff).
• Ability to create instructional content (guides, handouts, lesson plans).
• Ability to communicate with non-technical audiences about technical concepts.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the School of Medicine Library's makerspace.
• Provide expert instruction for groups using multimedia technologies for education and research.
• Conduct outreach to KSOM faculty, students, residents/fellows and campus partners.
• Develop online learning objects and coordinate projects.
• Train student employees who support multimedia creation and use.
